53rd Congress Inaugural Address

Inauguration Day in Patria!

Following is the text of the 53rd Congress (LIII Con. Pat.) inaugural address, as delivered shortly after 12:00 noon today:

Devi prapanartihare prasida, prasida matar jagato’khilasya.

Prasida vishveshwari pahi vishvam, twam ishwari devi characharasya.

Madam Chief Justice, Mr. Sergeant-at-Arms, distinguished guests, honourable members of the Fifty Third Congress, those who well and faithfully served in the Fifty Second Congress, fellow citizens of Patria, Amma’s beloved children, all those who have assembled on the grounds of the Capitol on this traditional quadrennial noon hour of the 30th day of June, we invoke the Divine Mother’s blessings on this new Congress with the same verse from the Devi Mahatmyam that introduced the address to a special Patria-India Joint Session two and a half years ago in Amritapuri: O Devi, you who remove the sufferings of your suppliants, be gracious. Protect the universe. You are, O Devi, the ruler of all that is moving and unmoving.

The members of this new Congress stand on the shoulders of those who have gone before, who have supported and defended this Inner Realm since 1818. The men and women who have served Patria so long and so well, who beginning in 1989 transitioned this lovely land from a plain vanilla secular republic into an Inner Realm of compassion and dharma, who replaced an American-style President with the Speaker of the House serving as a ceremonial head of state and who believed that concentrating executive power in the hands of one person and a hand-picked cabinet could lead to oligarchic, over-reaching personality cults that would not end well for both the leaders and ordinary citizens.

The Oath of Office that you have just heard promises to “support and defend” the Constitution of Patria. Support and defend, what exactly? The Constitution is not an old piece of parchment written with quill pens by men - and in 1818 they were exclusively Caucasian males - in funny suits and powdered wigs at a time when news could be disseminated only by word of mouth or hand-operated printing presses and could travel only as fast as a ship could sail or a horse could gallop. The Constitution of Patria is not a static document. It has evolved as technology has evolved, as society and culture have evolved, and as it evolves Patria remembers certain milestones in its history.

Fifty years ago in July 1976, amid the US bicentennial celebrations, the raid on Entebbe and the Montreal Olympics, a special session of 40th Congress took place in response to perceived notions that Patria was failing and powerless against the forces arrayed against it. But Patria survived a dark time, even if it led only to darker times in the failed 41st Congress. Nonetheless, the fear-driven legacy of stoners doing drugs,the proliferation of teenage sex and the peer pressure from high school kids half a century ago, to say nothing of the dreadful music, cars and fashions that prevailed in the 1970s, are duly remembered on this day.

Forty years ago, on this day in 1986, the 43rd Congress was inaugurated and today Patria also remembers its legacy. Even if it melted down and became a house divided against itself in 1989, that Congress taught once-socially backward citizens relevant life skills, real independent living, living as “normal” a life as possible, as well as external growth. Not without reason, the 43rd Congress has been called Patria’s Project Gemini. In the 43rd Congress, the laggardly social and economic legacy of previous failed administrations was finally made up, just as the Gemini space missions of 1965 and 1966, during which American astronauts learned to walk, dock, rendez-vous and truly fly in space, finally overcame the Soviet Union’s early 1960s lead in space exploration.

In 1926, the All-Patria Radio Network, now known as Ramrajyavani, was established. One hundred years later, tune this in: broadcasting on the 520 to 1700 kilohertz medium wave or AM band will never disappear from Patria’s airwaves and that programming on those frequencies will consist of relevant local news and public affairs, Patrienish Hockey League, All Patria Football Federation and other sports, as well as dharmic broadcasts that uplift all spirits.

These legacy AM stations will continue to broadcast the message that has been referenced in previous Inaugural Addresses and Annual Messages, but must be said again: While citizens of Patria are awake, PATRIA IS NOT WOKE! While democratic socialist principles, along with classic age-old human values of compassion and empathy, underpin much of Patria's daily life, Patria is not far-left, communist, libtard, or whatever tired, lame buzzwords the “faith, family, freedom” Reaganite neo-conservatives and MAGA Trumpist Americans choose to slander us with. Does offering a universal basic income make Patria woke? Does affordable public transit make Patria woke? Does comprehensive single-player health care that includes prescription drugs, dental and vision care, make Patria woke? Does making billionaires and oligarchs pay their fair share of taxes make Patria woke? Patria will continue to embrace the progressive left, the old left of Bernie Sanders and Tommy Douglas, while saying no to those who claim to be liberals and leftists - the so-called progressives, mostly in the US, whose feelings are hurt by “microaggressions”, the censorship-loving petty totalitarians who shut down free speech and open debate, the gender-benders who refer to themselves with pronouns that defy both reason and grammar, the land-acknowledgers who shame us with claims of settler colonialism, and many more who hate Patria’s freedom, who will not travel on Patria's politically incorrect go-it-alone path where there are no thought crimes and forbidden topics of debate.

As this new Congress is seated, let us advance a new answer to the question asked of every generation: To whom does Patria belong? For much of our history, the response from Congress, from the Precinct legislatures and from City Halls has been simple: It belongs only to the elites, to the wealthy and well-connected, those who never strain to capture the attention of those in power.

For decades, working people have reckoned with the consequences. Broken, failing infrastructure. Crowded classrooms taught by overworked teachers. Graffiti-splattered, crime-riddled, rodent-infested public housing developments where the elevators sit out of order as does the heating and air conditioning. Roads littered with potholes and filthy molasses-slow buses, streetcars and subways. Wages that do not rise and corporations that rip off consumers and employees alike.

So to whom does Patria belong? The simple answer is that Patria belongs to all who live in it. All who, as stated in today’s oath “love and serve, support and defend” the Inner Realm of Patria, seek peaceful co-existence with our neighbors and commit themselves to growth on all levels, and who are open to spiritual growth through regular practice of yoga and following the path of Sanatan Dharma.

So that Patria may truly belong to all who live in it, this Congress must strive to deliver an agenda of safety, affordability, and abundance, where government looks and lives like the people it represents, never flinches in the fight against corporate greed, and refuses to cower before challenges that others have deemed too complicated, too costly, or outside the Overton window of acceptable ideas, policy and discourse.

Well outside that window: refuting the argument that feminists and woke social justice warriors have been claiming since the 1970s: there is a ‘patriarchy’ that serves to discriminate against females and that works to the advantage of all men, even those who deny its existence. They even say “You can’t spell ‘patriarchy’ without ‘Patria’”. But the near disappearance of men in colleges and universities, even in the hard sciences and engineering, suggests there is no such thing as patriarchy. The high proportion of women serving in this Congress and the 13 Precinct legislatures suggests no such thing. The number of women in medicine, law, engineering and other once-overwhelmingly male professions also suggests no such thing. The incredible growth and popularity of women's sports, along with thriving professional women’s hockey, basketball and soccer leagues also suggests no such thing. Therefore, we reject the notion of patriarchy and the claim that you can’t spell Patria without it.

In actual fact, the main reason why one must assert that patriarchy does not exist is because Patria as we know it would not exist without feminine principles. Study any macro-world matrilineal society, of which there are several in India such as the Nairs of Amma’s home state Kerala and you will find a pattern that Patria has attempted to emulate since the first stirrings of the Dharmic Revolution: lower violence, higher social stability, deeper continuity between generations. When the feminine principle leads, life tends to thrive.

By contrast, the masculine obsession with domination has written its legacy in smoke and steel: wars, colonization, resource plunder, environmental collapse — all symptoms of unchecked aggression and ego. The archetype of the conqueror has brought us to the brink of self-extinction, not only in the previous century’s two world wars but countless times throughout history.

Think of all the women who raised us—the mothers who carried our bodies before we had names, who kept us alive before we understood what life even was. The teachers who showed us language, the healers who tended our wounds, the partners who reminded us how to feel when the world demanded we stop. To reject the feminine is, in essence, to reject the very hands that built us, fed us, healed us, and held us when we were too small or broken to hold ourselves. As the Devi Mahatmyam says, striyaha samastah sakala jagatsu - all women in the world are aspects of the Divine Mother.

There is no need to attack men or masculinity. But it is a call, particularly for National Unionists, to evolve it. To make it worthy of the world we claim to defend. Any man who believes in masculinity worth practicing must understand that it cannot exist in isolation—it depends on balance. It depends on the feminine. A world run entirely on masculine energy is a world forever trembling at the edge of collapse—a world out of equilibrium. Much of twentieth century macro-world history is virtual proof of this reality.

In Patria, men were never meant to be the whole story. They were never meant to be the center of the stage. The sooner they stop mistaking their dominance for destiny, the sooner they can step into something far greater: a partnership with the rest of humanity that honors both the builder and the nurturer, the defender and the dreamer.

Amma does not have to say it; the truth is both simple and humbling: no man stands who was not once held by a woman. No civilization survives that silences the voice of compassion. No future is possible if half the same species must still fight twice as hard to be heard, recognized, or appreciated in it.

Imagine not only Patria, but any macro-world civilization recalibrated around the feminine values evolution has spent millions of years refining: cooperation over conquest, empathy over ego, nurture over dominance. Fewer wars, fewer oligarchs, fewer authoritarians and autocrats (in the macro-world, Margaret Thatcher and Golda Meir are the exceptions that prove the rule), but more homes, more gardens, more sanctuaries of understanding. The instinct that protects a child could just as easily protect a planet.

Feminism and matriarchy are not reversals of power; they are restorations of balance. To embrace them is not to diminish men but to remember what we once knew—that strength without compassion corrodes infinitely, and logic without empathy destroys definitely. The story of our species has always depended on the emotional intelligence of care.

The truth is not radical. Women were built to sustain and nurture life, men to help defend it. But defense without creation becomes destruction, and the sword has long forgotten the hand that forged it. If humanity is to survive its own inventions—weapons of mass destruction, biological weapons and artificial intelligence —it must return to its original genius—the feminine principle of care, cooperation, and continuity as it has evolved through human intelligence, both male and female, not through genderless, soulless artificial intelligence.

For almost the entirety of the 2026 election campaign, far beyond the culture wars, talking points and shifts of the Overton window, one major issue has stood out and has been endorsed by virtually every party: Patria must stop the proliferation of artificial intelligence. There is only one intelligence: human intelligence. Patria is a micronation created by humans, for humans. Not only has this address been written and edited without the use of ChatGPT or other AI programs, the entire 2026 election cycle was conducted without AI. No algorithms. No fake “photos”, no AI-generated bogus videos and fake speeches, and none of the various forms of AI slop that have become more than just an annoyance on social media. Why does Patria so disdain AI? Someday, perhaps even in these next four years, there may be effective guardrails governing the use of AI. Until then, Patria is committed to keeping this awful scourge out of our schools, workplaces and all media, be it print, broadcast or social. It is no exaggeration to say that AI is the most dangerous technology in human history, a technology that does not lift anyone out of poverty while lining the pockets of the Big Tech billionaires. The Green Party detests AI because of the unsustainable environmental toll of data centers. Social Democrats despise the massive job losses, tens of thousands of real working people replaced by AI bots. National Unionists believe AI can help the bad guys commit even more heinous crimes. The Chakra Party believes yoga must be taught by a real teacher, not a chatbot. For the SRM, the teachings of Sanatan Dharma must be propagated through a bona fide spiritual master and a lineage of gurus, not a chatbot. Finally, virtually all parties are on board with eliminating AI in all of Patria’s schools as this rogue technology will only lead to the end of basic 3-R education as we know it in grade school, will destroy research and essay-writing skills in high school, and take plagiarism to a whole new level in colleges and universities, institutions of higher learning where young people, as recently as four years ago, learned “critical thinking” or “how to think”. If left unchecked, AI will not only take your job, it will take your brain. It will rob you not only of a livelihood, but of your ability to read, write and reason. Know this: Patria has thrown down the gauntlet against Big Tech and all who would promote the use of AI. Here in Patria, from the floor of the Fifty Third Congress let the word go forth: there will be not one word of AI-generated text, not one pixel of AI-generated illustration, not one note of AI-generated music and not one kilohertz or megahertz of AI-generated radio programming. The AI genie will be stuffed into the bottle and thrown back into the ocean, not to return to Patria's shores for a long time, if at all. 

In the big picture of the macro-world, what good is AI? Does anyone actually think that AI can help bring about social justice and compassion? How can AI help repair the world - the Jewish concept of tikkun olam? How can AI help unite the world as one family - the Hindu concept of vasudhaiva kutumbakam?

Can AI end wars? Can AI bring about a free Palestine? Of course it can’t.

Can AI bring down dictators and fascists? Can AI remove Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu from office and put them behind bars? Of course it can’t.

Can AI cause hatred, racism and bigotry to vanish from the earth? Of course it can’t.

Can AI find a cure for cancer? Of course it can’t.

Can AI reverse climate change? Of course it can’t.

Can AI put a stop to rape and violence against women? Of course it can’t.

Can AI end urban decay, homelessness, drug abuse, mental illness and street crime? Of course it can’t.

To paraphrase the Unite the Right protesters of 2017, “AI WILL NOT REPLACE US!”

With human intelligence, and only human intelligence, Patria says “Yato dharmastato jaya”, “Where there is Dharma, there is victory.” 

Yato dharmastato jaya. Victory over the Thought Police and speech codes that have run amuck in our colleges and universities.

Yato dharmastato jaya. Victory over the thin-skinned snowflakes whose hurt feelings or claims of so-called microaggressions are grounds for being prosecuted, canceled and censored.

Yato dharmastato jaya. Victory over the masked totalitarians of the COVID era and the masked secret police such as those seen on the streets of Minneapolis this past winter.

Yato dharmastato jaya. Victory over the billionaires and oligarchs who believe they can buy Patria, the pompous, self-righteous elites and intellectuals who believe they are the smartest in the room, to say nothing of the finger-wagging Karens, moral high-grounders and humorless holier-than-thou totalitarian left censors.

Yato dharmastato jaya. Victory over woke-ism on all fronts and fake progressive gatekeepers who are not progressive at all.

Yato dharmastato jaya. Let those words set the path that Patria is to take in the four years to come as our fellow citizens continue to chant the mantra that this micronation has been given almost from the outset of the Dharmic Revolution: Om namo bhagavate vasudevaya. Not my will, O Lord, but Thine. All goodness and truth are Thine. May no evil estrange us from Thee, nor error darken our vision of Thy purposes. Help us to discern Thy justice and to understand Thy will. In adversity and prosperity, let Thy law be a lamp unto our feet to illuminate our path. May the citizens of Patria so labor in Thy service that their lives become a hymn of praise unto Thee. May God bless each and every one of you here and may God bless Patria!

Patria's 52nd Congress - Inaugural Address

 

The following is the text of the Inaugural Address/Speech from the Throne delivered by the Speaker of the House in Castoropolis (Kashipura) on June 30, 2022.

Madam Chief Justice, Mr. Sergeant-at-Arms, distinguished guests, honourable members of the Fifty Second Congress, those who well and faithfully served in the Fifty First Congress, fellow citizens of Patria, Amma’s beloved children, all those gathered here in Kashipura on this auspicious noon hour on the 30^th day of June, let us open this new House of Assembly with salutations to Lord Ganesha Om gam ganapataye namah and the following prayer: Om saha navavatu saha nau bhunaktu, saha viryam karavavahai, tejasvi navadhitam astu, ma vidvishavahai. Om shanti shanti shanti. May we be protected together. May we be nourished together. May we all make a bold attempt. May our study be enlightening. May there be no hatred between us. May there be peace.

 On this day, we would be remiss not to acknowledge the centennial of radio broadcasting in Patria. One hundred years ago today, Patria’s pioneer radio station PMC, which had signed on only a few months earlier in 1922, broadcast the inauguration of the Twenty Seventh Congress.

 As we know, there is one less party seated in this House. The Fifty Second Congress regrets the demise of the Amrita Party, but thanks the Party’s members for their service to Patria since 2002. Patria will forever be grateful for the presence of Amma in this House over the past two decades, representing the great Precinct of Arboria. The Amrita Party’s legacy includes not only Amrita TV being available on all basic cable systems in Patria, an Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences hospital and a campus of Amrita University in Patria, but also – and most important of all – continuing Amma’s work as an environmentalist who leads from the front.

 Patria will listen to the argument that human activity has little effect on the Earth’s climate. There is certainly evidence that climate change took place in ancient times and in the Middle Ages when fossil fuels were virtually unknown. There is even evidence of climate change on Mars, certainly no fault of the Martians. But know this, whether caused by human activity or not, climate change is real, it is happening even as we meet here, and it affects the micro-world just as much as the macro-world. Therefore, micronations such as Patria have an environmental duty of care as great as any macro-national world power. In 2016 Patria ratified the MAPS treaty and Patria continues to advocate for the Marine Arctic Peace Sanctuary, that safeguards the Arctic Ocean north of the Arctic Circle. In this single act of conservation, that advances all 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, MAPS protects our homes, food and water supplies, global immunity, economic balance, social stability, and world peace. It is not only the small Green Party caucus who will support Patria’s environmental initiatives in this new Congress. And there will be new initiatives along with the commitment in the previous Congress to reduce the use of plastics and disposable items. On the order paper: the fashion industry – whether made in Patria or imported fast-fashion from the usual suspects such as Bangladesh – must commit to textile recycling so that old worn-out clothing does not sit in landfills but is re-made into new garments, made and worn in Patria – not turned into industrial rags or exported to Africa. The internal combustion engine has enjoyed a nice run since the early 1900s, but a glance at the price of petrol is all it takes to know that now is the time for the micro and macro-world to break its unsustainable addiction to fossil fuel. As contained in Patria’s fiscal 2023 budget, ratified less than 24 hours ago as the last act of the 51^st Congress, Patria will offer subsidies, loans or rebates for purchase of electric cars and will appropriate sufficient funds in order to build the fast-charge network so that electric charging stations will become an even more common sight on our roads than the traditional filling stations. Beginning no later than 2024, Patria will mandate that the majority of Patria Post trucks and other government fleet vehicles be electric powered. Public transit buses will also transition from diesel to electric or hybrid electric. And finally, in another of Amma’s environmental initiatives that also uplifts the lives of females in the developing world, women in Patria will be encouraged to adopt reusable menstrual pads, such as those produced by Amma’s Saukhyam project.

 Along with these environmental initiatives, Patria is also committed to a fair and equitable workplace environment. Not only should every worker in Patria be guaranteed a living wage, topped up if necessary by the universal basic income that has been ratified in principle and will be implemented no later than fiscal 2024, the new Congress will spearhead legislation that will ensure across Patria a mandatory minimum of four weeks paid vacation, year-long paid parental leave, unlimited paid sick or disability leave, and a four-day work week so that Thursday becomes the new Friday.

 Forty years ago today, on these same Capitol steps, Patria marked the end of the “failed policies, failed hopes” of the Forty First Congress. Say what you want about the alcohol-fueled, hedonistic Forty Second Congress, but it at least served as a partial do-over or make-good for the failed Forty First. Let it be the intention of all who are old enough to remember the dark time, all the veteran Congress members who actually served in that House, to reach some kind of reconciliation with the failed Forty First Congress, acknowledge its legacy, be grateful for its few good experiences such as exceptional medium wave and shortwave DX catches and move on. Recall fondly or not, nostalgically or not, the excesses of the Forty Second Congress, but know that in 1986 it left Patria in a better place than it found it in 1982. And forty years from today, let it be said that the Fifty First Congress left Patria in a better place than it found it, COVID-19 or no.

 Patria calls on China to take responsibility for the pain and suffering they have foisted on the macro and micro-world alike, most likely through a biological weapon under development that was accidentally leaked from a lab. No macro-national leader has dared to say that China should pay reparations – not only to the families of those who died of COVID but even more to the loved ones of those who committed suicide during the lockdowns and those who died of cancer, heart disease and other non-COVID causes because the surgeries and treatments that could have saved their lives were cancelled or postponed indefinitely. But Patria has been saying it for more than two years. The geriatric ChiComms must pay the debt for their horrific crime against humanity, just as Germany continues to pay reparations to Holocaust survivors and the US may someday do for the African-American descendants of slaves. Can I get a “MAKE CHINA PAY?”

 Long before COVID-19 Patria said: “If we have to go alone, we go alone with pride”. And when the lamps were going out all over the macro-world in March 2020, Patria stood alone. Alone against the world, Patria adopted the Great Barrington Declaration. Alone against the world, Patria chose freedom above fear. Alone against the world, Patria considered COVID-19 little more than a bad flu season, comparable to the 1957-58 Asian Flu or 1968-69 Hong Kong Flu. Alone against the world, Patria adopted herd immunity as its primary means of keeping those truly at risk of serious illness safe. Alone against the world, Patria refused to impose lockdowns, vaccine passports and mask mandates. Alone against the world, Patria chose to protect those who were truly vulnerable, such as residents of nursing homes and long-term care facilities, while allowing the majority of Patrienish citizens to continue living a normal life free of restrictions, free to protect themselves as they and their personal health care providers saw fit. Alone against the world, Patria placed personal responsibility and individual choice above government decree. And of course, almost alone against the world, Patria did not let the fear-mongers and lockdown-mongers win.

 Many macro-world liberals and progressives seem content with letting the pandemic – or should we say “panic-demic” – continue indefinitely, and keep the mask mandates and other restrictions on the books – even if self-imposed rather than by government fiat – permanently. But Patria’s message to the macro-world and micro-world alike is “COVID is over”. It is in the rear view mirror NOW! If not now, when?

 Patria chooses freedom over fear. Today, as in March 2020, and always. If not now, when?

Let us move from fear to love and be rooted in love. As Amma says, “my religion is love”. If not now, when?

Let us recognize that health care decisions such as how to protect oneself against a mostly mild but highly communicable disease are choices made between each citizen and his or her personal physician or health care provider, not mandates handed down by unelected, unaccountable public health officers and so-called “top doctors” such as Theresa Tam and Anthony Fauci. If not now, when?

Let us recognize that hugs and human contact are essential, pandemic or no. Self-care and self-love are essential, pandemic or no. If not now, when?

As Pride month concludes, let us affirm that Asexuals should be included and welcomed within the Pride movement along with their LGBTQ brothers and sisters, not looked down upon as simply failed heterosexuals, out of luck adult virgins or incels who have yet to commit violent crimes. If not now, when?

Let us support all forms of free speech and free expression, including unpopular and dissident voices. Let us never limit free speech to only the views that have been deemed acceptable by the elites, social media fact-checkers and our so-called betters. If not now, when?

Let us never teach our children, teens and young adults that any sex, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, religion, or national origin is inherently superior or inferior. The First Session of this Congress should pass legislation that would ban so-called Critical Race Theory from all Patria’s publicly funded schools, colleges and universities. Let us never teach Blacks to hate Whites and Whites to hate themselves. If not now, when?

Let us significantly reduce the dependence on Chinese-made consumer goods. To the greatest extent possible, bring the manufacturing jobs back to Patria, or in the macro-world back to Canada, the United States, the UK and other first-world democracies. If it can be made in Patria, let it be made in Patria. Bring the jobs home. If not now, when?

Whether we voted SRM or not, let us proudly declare “PATRIA FIRST”! Say it loud, say it proud. Our Inner Realm, take it back! Our economy, take it back! The banner of Sanatan Dharma, raise it high! Always be asking these three Patrienish words: “estí buní Patríæ?” Is it good for Patria? If not now, when?

Nationalism is not something evil, not something to be feared, not even something that is the exclusive domain of rightists and conservatives. Either we have a country or we don’t. And if we do, and if Patria is something more than the name that goes on our coins, postage stamps and passports, something more than the team bearing its flag on the athletic uniforms we root for at sports events, then we must put it first, to love and serve, support and defend. Hence, Patria First! If not now, when?

No one ever complied their way out of government overreach. No one ever changed the world by being pragmatic or incremental. No one ever got nice things by being moderate or centrist. Let the multi-party composition of this House affirm that that Patria has no use for moderate milquetoast big-tent center-left and center-right parties such as Canada’s Liberals and Conservatives, the UK’s Labour and Tories and certainly not the binary bipolar wasteland of America’s Democrats and Republicans. Patria does not need some new political parties. Patria needs a generation of brave men and women who can fearlessly rise to face all threats to their collective interests. A generation steeled in their effort to realize their grand vision of a new nation. This gathering of the faithful — the true inheritors of Patria — will urge our people onward.

Know this: a nation run by bankers will never be out of debt. A nation owned by weapons manufacturers – what Dwight Eisenhower dubbed the military-industrial complex – will never know peace. A nation that allows only a small, mostly unelected segment of its citizens to write the laws and draft extra-legal mandates will never know justice. And if these elements own a nation’s media, its people will never know the truth.

In the 1960s the left was a major component of the counterculture, part of the revolution against the so-called establishment. Today it is the establishment, while the right is the vanguard of the anti-establishment. And in this new Congress, Patria looks to the right for the four Fs: Faith, Family, Freedom and Free Speech, while retaining universal basic income, extended paid maternity (or paternity) leave, subsidized child care, single-payer health insurance that includes dental care, vision care and pharma care, and the other progressive economic underpinnings laid down by the Social Democrats and the old, traditional, populist left that advocates free speech, open debate, freedom of association and above all, freedom of choice and bodily autonomy, be it abortions or vaccines, while giving no quarter for wokeism, intersectionality, critical race theory, hurt feelings of easily-offended snowflakes and of course the never-ending COVIDocracy of mandates and restrictions. Just as Pierre Trudeau said “there is no place for the state in the bedrooms of the nation”, Patria says there is no place for the state in the bodies of our citizens and the doctor’s offices of our nation. Just as the abortion rights pioneers said some half century ago, Patria says again: “my body, my choice”!

In Patria, citizens should not only be free to speak but to speak freely. Yet today in much of the macro world, free speech is threatened and has even gotten a bad name. How did free speech get such a bad name? How did free speech come to be seen as an enemy of civilization? Was free speech not supposed to be one of the noblest goals of the enlightenment, a touchstone for democracies worldwide? Yes it was. That is why the modern left hates free speech. Because the modern left in much of the macro-world is an authoritarian movement built around censorship. They would not accuse you of being against God or the government. Rather, they will say that your speech is a form of violence against some particular group of people. And therefore, you need to be stopped, in order to keep other people “safe”, in order not to hurt other people’s feelings. These leftist totalitarians alone get to decide what is racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, or even anti-science. But know this: not the democratic, traditional, non-woke left in Patria, not the Social Democrats, Greens, Chakra Party and the independent progressives seated in this House today. To those totalitarian killers of free speech and free thought who claim to be “progressive”, Patria says – to quote Greta Thunberg – “how dare you!”

And thus be it ever that Patria will stand as a maverick state that goes alone. Democratic socialist and not woke. Leftist – old-school leftist – and proudly standing for free speech, open debate, questioning of authority, defying the ruling class elites, and of course vehemently rejecting cancel culture. Progressive and politically incorrect. A so-called welfare state that accepts capitalism while obliging its billionaires and plutocrats to pay their fair share of taxes as well as direct a small part of their wealth towards making Patria a better place for those less fortunate. Proudly populist. Fiercely nationalist. No elites. No thought police. No safe spaces or trigger warnings. For the benefit of the working classes, not the woke elite. As George Orwell wrote in 1984 (the book, not the year), “if there is hope, it lies in the proles”. The proles, the ordinary working men and women of Patria, not the woke elite, who struggle daily to make ends meet, to put food on their table and fuel in their gas tanks, amid economic, social and environmental collapse. The proles care not one whit about which pronouns to use, whether trans women are bona fide females, whether they are ticking enough diversity, equity and inclusion boxes, or whether black lives matter more than all lives. The proles also say, as Greta says, “how dare you!”

Patria rose up in a spirit of defiance back in 1818, rose up again and reaffirmed Sanatan Dharma in 1989, rose up once more against the COVID totalitarians in 2020, and still we rise. No macro-world governments recognize Patria. No foreign aid given or ambassadors sent. No one wishes to travel on the path with Patria. And that suits Patria just fine. Indeed, we go alone with pride!

But of course we are not walking alone in this new Congress. The Lord – Krishna, Shiva, Devi, Allah, Yahweh – is at our side in whatever name and form is best suited to each citizen of Patria. Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of Hosts; the whole Earth is full of His glory. Praised be the glory of God through all the world. Let Thy doctrine descend as the rain, Thy word distil as the dew. May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in Thy sight, may Thy will be done, and may God bless Patria!

Ave atque vale - 51st Congress adjourns sine die

 The Fifty First Congress passed into history on its final day in office, as the Speaker of the House brought down the gavel and declared the fourth session (4·LI 2021-22) adjourned sine die.

On the last day of the lame-duck session, Congress ratified Patria's fiscal 2023 budget and passed a number of other motions including an affirmation that abortion will always be safe and legal in Patria.

Minutes prior to the final adjournment, the final message of the 51st Congress was delivered by the Acting House Leader of the now-defunct Amrita Party (one of only four Amrita Party members who didn't resign and abandon their seats when the Amrita Party was dissolved in December 2021). The following is the text of the final message:

Mr. Speaker Pro Tem, with your permission I rise to deliver the final message of the Fourth Session, Fifty First Congress. As I speak, I am surrounded by empty seats that belonged to members of the Amrita Party, who abandoned this House when the Party was dissolved in December 2021. Let all members of Congress, whether their terms are coming to an end as the Speaker’s gavel next hits the dais or are continuing to serve in the Fifty Second Congress-elect, acknowledge the legacy of the Amrita Party and the great things Amma’s children have accomplished in Patria over the course of the past two decades. Though there remains only a small rump of the Amrita Party’s remnants – only four members calling themselves IAM in the new Congress – Patria will continue to be held in Amma’s hands and bow at her feet. 

Before continuing further, on behalf of the Jungle Party caucus, I would like to congratulate Kaleb in Green Bay, winner of Smack Off XXVIII, who will serve as the Jungle Party’s de facto House Leader in the Fifty Second Congress-elect, as well as Iafrate, who finished a close second and will serve as Deputy Leader.

 The Fifty First Congress began so auspiciously with Patria’s 2018 bicentennial celebrations, but – along with the entire macro-world – was dragged into a dark place midway through the Second Session. But while much of the macro-world resorted to lockdowns and police state tyranny in March 2020, Patria would not play along. Patria did not give in to those who would take away freedom for the sake of a bad flu season. Proudly we can say that this Congress and the thirteen Precinct legislatures did not impose full-scale mask mandates, business and school closures, the colossal failure of online school, to say nothing of police state lockdowns. Patria stood alone against the world in March 2020 and still we stand, not giving in to fear, protecting those who need protection, while allowing COVID 19 to run its course among the healthy population. Patria has gone on record that if you want to wear a mask, that is fine, as they say “you do you” but as a means of curbing the spread of COVID 19 masks are nearly useless except in certain limited circumstances, such as those who are actually infected, at high risk, or whose work comes into contact with such cases. Let the powers that be hate us. Let the ruling class call us a fake country that enacts fake laws and follows fake science. Proudly we went alone in the 51^st Congress and proudly we will go alone in the 52^nd.

 Forty years ago on this day, Patria moved on from the failed Forty First Congress. Today Patria moves on once again. Not from a failed Congress, but from one that rose up against fear, panic and oppression to say “enough is enough”. No masks, no lockdowns, no shuttered schools. This was not the 14^th century. COVID was not bubonic plague. It was not even the 1918 flu. Did anyone see bodies dropping dead on the streets and corpses stacked like cordwood on tumbrel carts as the driver called out “bring out your dead”? The macro-world powers that be attempted to immiserate, embitter and enslave the free world with lockdowns and isolation, with mandates and overreach by petty tyrants disguised as public health officers and “top doctors”. They attempted to control and re-set. For who? For what? To ratchet up fear of a respiratory virus with a 99-point-something % survival rate. For a bad flu season. And then after two years, when COVID began to wane they ratcheted up a new Cold War against Russia that has turned far hotter than the one against the former Soviet Union. But Patria would not play along.

 Patria of course condemns Russia’s brutal and unprovoked attack on Ukraine, but Patria will not join the neo-Cold Warriors in demonizing Putin and ginning up hate for the long-gone Evil Empire. Ladies and gentlemen, the Soviet Union ceased to exist in 1991. Putin is not Stalin. Not Khrushchev. Not Brezhnev. Not even Yuri Andropov. Russia is not our enemy. Ukraine is not our ally, much as Patria offers the Ukrainian people its moral and spiritual support as folks everywhere are virtue-signaling by flying the Ukrainian flag or hash-tagging #standwithUkraine on social media. Patria must remain neutral in all macro-national conflicts that do not threaten Patria’s security. Patria’s defense budget – part of the fiscal 2023 budget ratified earlier today – serves for the defense of Patria, to repel an actual invasion or serious threat of same, but the Patrienish Army, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard will not fall in line with the US-led military industrial complex of endless wars that benefit only the weapons manufacturers.

 The men and women who have served in the Fifty First Congress and will serve in the Fifty Second Congress-elect are not elites. Not plutocrats. Not multi-millionaires. Not the so-called one-percent. For the most part they are ordinary citizens of the 13 Precincts and the Federal District. Their desire to love and serve, support and defend the Inner Realm has inspired their decision to seek elective office and has brought them here. Consequently this House is, and must always be not liberal, not conservative, but populist, reflecting the views of the grassroots, of the Joe Sixpacks and Sally Soccermoms, of the ordinary working people struggling to make ends meet, be it putting food on the table, putting clothes on their children’s backs, or putting gas in the car.

 Those who disdain Patria’s role in the micronational world, as a politically incorrect maverick state that goes it alone, as a democratic socialist nation that is not woke, as a land that proudly affirms Sanatan Dharma along with the Judeo-Christian western traditions as well as the “spiritual but not religious” folks in the Chakra Party, as a realm of free speech and free choice, as the only country on this planet that thumbed its nose at the COVID police – know this: Patria is doubling down on all of the above in the new Congress. Let the haters hate Patria’s lack of woke-ism. Let the elites despise Patria’s grassroots populism. Let the ruling class in America call Patria a land of conspiracy theorists. Let the ignorant ignore Patria’s legacy since 1818. Let the skeptics be skeptical that such a micronation can thrive and prosper. Patria will live on as it has endured for the past 204 years, fortis et liber, strong and free. They can call us a fake country. They can shout their words of hate. But as the song goes, the cost of keeping this land free can never be too great.

 As we bring down the gavel on the Fifty First Congress, as the Speaker Pro Tem leads the closing prayers, let us pause to remember the real victims of COVID as a result of the vast over-reaction since March 2020: those who committed suicide or seriously thought about it during the lockdown as they suffered intensely from economic devastation, isolation and depression, who were considered by the unelected, unaccountable public health authorities little more than collateral damage, as well as those who died amid these actions befitting a police state because their cancers went undetected, their surgeries were canceled or their treatments for non-COVID diseases were postponed indefinitely.

 The Amrita Party may be no more, but Patria has been blessed by Amma’s grace, by her presence. May it continue to be so in the Fifty Second Congress-elect. Om amriteshwaryai namah. Antarbhumi ramrajya ki jai ho!

 

Fifty First Congress Inaugural Address/Speech from the Throne

The following is the official text of the Inaugural Address/Speech from the Throne delivered at the Capitol in Castoropolis, shortly after 12:00 noon Patrienish Local Time on June 30, 2018:

Madam Chief Justice, members of the Fifty-First Congress, all those who served in the Fiftieth Congress, distinguished guests, fellow citizens of Patria, embodiments of divine souls and all of Amma’s beloved children: ya devi sarvabhuteshu matrirupena samsthita namastasyai namastasyai namastasyai namo namah. Salutations and prostrations to the Devi who abides in all beings in the form of Mother as this most auspicious bicentennial inaugural day has arrived. Behold the Inner Realm that the Divine Mother in Her limitless mercy has preserved for two hundred years, the Inner Realm that on this day we vow at Her lotus feet to love and serve, and whose Constitution to support and defend.

On this day in 1818 it was in divine right order for our founding mothers and founding fathers to establish an Inner Realm founded on and devoted to the practice of Sanatan Dharma, popularly known as Hinduism, committed to seva or selfless service as modeled by Lord Rama’s faithful monkey servant Hanuman, and loyal to the teachings of the Vedas, Puranas, Bhagavad Gita and the lineage of gurus. Seventy-five years before Swami Vivekananda introduced the teachings to a receptive Western world at the Chicago Parliament of Religions, Patria raised the torch of Sanatan Dharma and has held it high to this day. Patria’s shraddha – faith – and bhakti – devotion – have never wavered. To borrow the motto of the province of Ontario, ut incepit fidelis sic permanet: loyal she began, loyal she remains.

In the early decades of the nineteenth century, Patria slowly grew – if it grew at all –  amid a wild, untamed pre-industrial frontier. Until the coming of the telegraph and railways in the 1840s, the teachings of Sanatan Dharma could travel only as fast as a horse could gallop. But still Patria took root. Even before the American Civil War, Patria offered a safe haven to runaway slaves. Loyal she began, loyal she remains.

In 1867 as Canada came into being, Patria established a special relationship with the new dominion that continues to this day, even if no Canadian leader from Sir John A. Macdonald to Justin Trudeau has ever recognized Patria’s consular mission in midtown Toronto. Loyal she began, loyal she remains.

In the 1880s as the great European powers scrambled for colonies in Africa and Asia, Patria claimed Madagascar and the Spratly Islands as part of its colonial empire. The claims were abandoned by 1900 not only when Congress failed to ratify a resolution that would have made the tenrec Patria’s national animal but after Patria recognized the evils of colonialism and the costs of taking up the “white man’s burden” decades before the great macro-world powers granted their colonies independence. Loyal she began, loyal she remains.

In 1914 Patria declared neutrality in the fratricidal Great War and celebrated its centennial amid the bullets, bombs and poison gas of that war and a deadly flu epidemic in 1918. Loyal she began, loyal she remains.

In the 1920s Ramrajyavani – the Voice of Patria – signed on in order to propagate the teachings of Sanatan Dharma and bring yoga classes, bhajans and kirtan into our homes via the new medium of radio. Legendary AM powerhouse stations such as PMC, PMBC and POKX came on the air and continue to broadcast today. Loyal she began, loyal she remains.

In the 1930s Patria battled the Great Depression with its own version of Franklin D. Roosevelt’s New Deal. Many of Patria’s classic Art Deco public building were built as job-creation projects, much like WPA projects in the US, while unlike FDR in 1933, the Patrienish Rupee remained redeemable in gold. Loyal she began, loyal she remains.

In 1941 Patria committed no troops to fight another fratricidal World War but the Inner Realm supported the Allied cause in the struggle to defeat a true Empire of Evil. Loyal she began, loyal she remains.

In 1947 as India won independence, Patria also established a special relationship with the motherland of yoga and spiritual home of Sanatan Dharma, even if no Indian government from Jawaharlal Nehru’s Congress Party to Narendra Modi’s BJP has ever recognized Patria. Bharat Mata Ki Jai and loyal she began, loyal she remains.

In the 1950s Patria became virtually a clean-cut piece of postwar Leave It to Beaver Americana, where air was clean, sex was dirty and consumer goods were cheap, where the then-centrist National Union ruled, where women were homemakers and mothers, and where certain races and ethnic groups knew their place. Yet the flame of Sanatan Dharma continued to burn, albeit at times clandestinely, beneath the surface of a lily-white ostensibly Judeo-Christian utopia. Loyal she began, loyal she remains.

In the 1960s, while the National Union continued its hold on Patria, the counterculture and so-called “New Left” took root. As hippies, flower children and US draft dodgers proliferated in the 37^th and 38^th Congress, Patria redoubled its effort to look inward, “tune in, turn on, drop out” and “make love not war”. Loyal she began, loyal she remains.

In the 1970s and 1980s, even as yoga was becoming mainstream and immigrants from South Asia were introducing Hinduism to the western macro-world, Patria settled into a somewhat bland liberal, secular republic, usually known as Castoria rather than Patria or Ramrajya. These were the awful days of the powerless do-nothing Fortieth Congress, after which then came the dark time of failed policies and failed hopes of the Forty-First Congress, followed by the alcohol-fueled hedonism of the Forty-Second Congress, which nonetheless left Patria in better shape than it found it. Loyal she began, loyal she remains.

Finally in 1989, as the assimilationist regression-to-the-mainstream Forty-Third Congress became a house divided against itself, there came the spark of liberation which has become known as the Dharmic Revolution. Actually the “Spark of ’89” was a counter-revolution against the tired old forces of blandness, centrism and assimilation to mainstream Western Judeo-Christian values. It served as a call to return Patria to the values and traditions that had birthed it in 1818. Whether a revolution or counter-revolution, it did not take place in a macro-world vacuum. As we know, Patria’s spiritual re-awakening almost three decades ago was inspired by and took place amid the fall of the Berlin Wall, the democratic revolutions in Eastern Europe and the demise of the Soviet Union. Patria turned inward, focused inwardly, as the Forty-Fourth Congress election in 1990 called for a return to the spiritual values that gave birth to Patria and made it great. Loyal she began, loyal she remains.

In the Forty-Fifth Congress, Patria deeply felt the pain caused by the downfall of one beloved teacher in the Kripalu lineage, but sought out others and between 1994 and 1998 transitioned from Amrit to Amma. During this transitional time, Patria was represented during a Premyatra or Pilgrimage of Love to India that re-connected with the lineage of Swami Kripalvananda to whose lotus feet Patria remains devoted. Loyal she began, loyal she remains.

On December 31, 1999 citizens of Patria were kept in suspense wondering if the power grid would fail and the infrastructure would collapse as the clock struck midnight. That it did not, and the first day of the new millennium turned out to be a day just like any other, was due as much to the grace of the Divine Mother as to the computer geeks who spent much time and treasure fixing the alleged Y2K bug. Loyal she began, loyal she remains.

On September 11, 2001 Patria mourned and still remembers the lives lost in the horrific attacks perpetrated by Al-Qaeda, but would not join George W. Bush’s Global War on Terror. Hate cannot drive out hate. Darkness cannot drive out darkness. Loyal she began, loyal she remains.

In 2008 the macro-world’s economy melted down and threatened to take Patria down with it. Yet Patria rode out the Great Recession, the Patrienish Rupee – still based on a gold standard as in the 1930s – lost virtually no value and the economy recovered through the grace of the Divine Mother. Loyal she began, loyal she remains.

And thus, over two centuries, this lovely land has prospered with the blessings of Amma, Karunamayi and all the Devis. Rooted, vital and expansive, grounded in the Positive Possibilities and the Divine Mother’s love. The motto of Canada’s most populous province has never rung truer in Patria. Loyal she began, loyal she remains.

With that re-cap of Patria’s history, we have looked back over the past two hundred years. Now let us look forward to the goals that this new Congress hopes to achieve over the next four years.

That the duty of care for the environment – beginning with simple steps of re-purposing, recycling, conserving non-renewable energy and reducing dependence on fossil fuels –  must be one of the primary duties of all Patrienish citizens in this new administration is widely accepted. No one can fail to note the extremes of climate change in recent years – let us not use the term “global warming” because in many cases the climate change, caused or exacerbated by human activity and misuse of nature’s gifts, has resulted in brutally cold winters and more snowfall. In 2016 Patria became the first and thus far the only government with the exception of Samoa to have ratified the Marine Arctic Peace Sanctuary or MAPS treaty, intended to establish all ocean waters north of the Arctic Circle as a marine protected area, free from oil drilling and all other exploitation, thereby protecting the fragile Arctic ecosystem and safeguarding the melting polar ice cap that is a major factor in climate change. MAPS would also compel a global shift away from fossil fuels to sustainable energy and unite world leaders in the commitment to value long-term collective good over short-term individual gain.

But being thousands of kilometers away, the Arctic Ocean may not seem to affect Patria’s daily life. Along with planting trees and keeping bees, what else can citizens of Patria do locally in order to foster sustainable living? The spiritual leader of the Amrita Party has the answer. In this bicentennial year, it is Amma’s wish that Patria concentrates its environmental initiatives on source reduction – stopping waste before it begins, and sharply reducing our use of plastics. Recycling is far from enough. Instead of recycling plastics and other throw-away products that need to be processed for reconfiguration into another form, we need to start using products that are designed to last, can easily be reused or repurposed, or find an alternative way of living that eliminates the need for the product altogether.

As we know, plastic is a notoriously unfriendly product for Mother Earth. It biodegrades very slowly, if at all. Discarded plastic sits in landfills for centuries. Plastic trash thrown into rivers and lakes makes its way into the oceans, where fish, sea birds and other marine animals mistake it for food or get entangled in the millions of tons of plastic waste choking the oceans and die horrific deaths. Fish and other animals taken from the sea for human consumption ingest micro-plastics which eventually end up on the human dinner table. But even vegans are not immune from plastic contamination. Therefore, as a bicentennial project the Fifty First Congress will answer the call of Amma’s Green Friends organization and take up the 2018 Plastics Challenge which was inaugurated by Amma in February of this year. Citizens of Patria will do their part to reduce significantly the use of plastics, reuse or repurpose so-called single-use plastic products at their homes, schools and workplaces, and find alternatives to plastic items, such as wooden toothbrushes, metal water bottles and even metal drinking straws.

If there is to be a war on plastic, India – perhaps the macro-world’s most polluted nation – is leading from the front. As all forms of disposable plastic were banned in Delhi in 2017, Castoropolis has done likewise, and residents of Patria’s capital have learned to bag their groceries in cloth bags supplied from home and sip their Diet Coke or Thums Up in a reusable cup without a straw. The precincts of Caesarea, Nova Columbia and Antioch have followed suit along with several other cities in Patria. On the First Session, 51^st Congress order paper, there should be legislation that would ban single-use plastic items such as straws, cutlery and drink stirrers Patria-wide as the UK is planning to do, India vows to achieve by 2022 and New York City is considering.

Last but not least among Patria’s environmental initiatives: breaking the addiction to fossil fuels by reducing our dependence on cars, by using public transportation whenever possible for our daily trips. Patria’s roads, bridges, railways, subways – particularly the Castoropolis Metro which is celebrating its centennial this year – and other public transportation infrastructure must be improved and renovated as  bicentennial projects, with private-public partnerships if possible. Patria Rail as its bicentennial project should roll out high-speed trains that link Castoropolis with the capital cities of all thirteen Precincts.

Forty years ago today the Forty First Congress was inaugurated at this very place. While there have been other failed administrations over the past 200 years, the 41^st Congress failed virtually right out of the box. One of the main reasons for its failure: the wrong choices made in post-secondary education. Even forty years ago, university was not a place to float aimlessly for three or four years. But at least in those days, even with a liberal arts degree more often than not postwar baby boomers could get a fairly good job after graduation. To state the obvious for millennials, those days are never coming back. Therefore, in Patria’s colleges and universities there must be a near-total emphasis on STEM – science, technology, engineering and math – rather than the arts and humanities, which have become almost irrelevant to today’s job market. While a basic grounding in the arts and humanities, not to mention a working knowledge of at least one foreign language, should still form part of a college education, the goal of a liberal education can be accomplished by a few non-STEM elective humanities courses and a year or two of studying Sanskrit and a foreign language of strategic value such as Russian, Mandarin or Arabic, not majors or specializations in such fields that are unlikely to lead to meaningful employment. For those who work at Patria’s colleges and universities as faculty, library technicians and support staff, there must be a better deal and an end to precarious part-time positions and one-year contract teaching positions that have virtually no chance of becoming full-time.

To those tough-as-nails National Union men, Amma says: Men have also suffered greatly as a result of the exile of the feminine principle from the world. Because of the oppression of women and the suppression of the feminine aspect within men, men’s lives have become fragmented, often painful. Men, too, have to awaken to their feminine qualities. They have to develop empathy and understanding in their attitude towards women, and in the way they relate to the world. Statistics show that men — not women — commit by far most of the crime and killing in this world. Only love, compassion, and patience — the fundamental qualities of women — can lessen the intrinsically aggressive, overactive tendencies of men. Similarly, there are women who need the qualities of men, so that their goodness and purity don’t immobilize them. Today when competition and anger are the norm everywhere, it is the patience and tolerance of women that create the harmony that exists in the world. Women are the power and the very foundation of our existence in the world. It is therefore crucial that women everywhere make every effort to rediscover their fundamental nature, for only then can we save this world. What today’s world really needs is cooperation between men and women, based on a firm sense of unity in the family and society. Wars and conflicts, all the suffering and lack of peace in the present-day world, will certainly lessen to a great extent if women and men begin to cooperate and support each other.

While Patria has moved on from the tired old “safe place for social conservatives” evangelical-style calls for modest dress for women and bans on public displays of affection by the Chads and Staceys, Patria must still be a safe place for so-called Incels. Of course Patria has zero tolerance for misogyny or violence against women, but this generation of lost boys, these socially inept men, more often than not on the autistic spectrum, who are unable to experience intimate relationships despite failed attempts to do so – hence involuntarily celibate – will not be ignored and ridiculed to the point where they become radicalized by the far right and take out their frustration by committing violent homicidal crimes. Each precinct’s Ministry of Health should take action to address the needs of Incels, perhaps by offering subsidies for the purchase of Real Dolls.

Notwithstanding the fear-mongering during the recent election campaign and the proliferation of “Faith Family Freedom” tweets, Communist hordes waving red flags and brandishing hammers and sickles are not standing at the gates of Patria. But as witnessed by the plurality of seats won by the Social Democrats, citizens of Patria have voted for a renewed commitment to liberal democratic socialism as modeled by Bernie Sanders, the US Senator from Vermont who should have been elected president in 2016 but instead became an honorary citizen of Patria.

Democratic socialism does not mean that the government is coming for your wealth, confiscating your holdings of gold and silver, giving your luxury car to a struggling single mother and turning your mansion into a collective farm. You can be a billionaire, member of the one-percent club or super-rich plutocrat in Patria. You can keep on riding in your chauffeured limousines and private jets. Your mansions and gated communities in East Castoropolis and Crozier Heights are safe from the unwashed hordes. Patria does not begrudge wealth, but it must come with humility. And more importantly, wealth can never be a measure of worth. Patria does not condemn those who earned their wealth through their own initiative and hard work or even those who inherited much of their riches. Patria asks of its plutocrats only that they pay their fair share of taxes, pay their employees living wages and allow them to join unions, and of course – in the noblesse oblige tradition of the Carnegies and Rockefellers – to dedicate at least a small portion of their wealth toward making Patria a better place for those less fortunate. As US Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis warned early in the last century, “we can have democracy in this country, or we can have great wealth concentrated in the hands of a few, but we can’t have both”.

And know this: democratic socialism does not mean that political correctness will be in vogue in Patria. Just because this Congress is the most liberal and left-leaning one ever elected in Patria’s history does not mean that PC buzzwords and jargon such as “intersectionality”, “micro-aggressions” and “patriarchy” will be bandied about. Democratic socialism does not mean that so-called social justice warriors will be running rampant as self-appointed thought police censoring constitutionally protected non-violent views and opinions expressed in the public squares and on social media. It cannot be emphasized strongly enough: Patria must remain a beacon of free speech and open debate of even the most unpopular politically incorrect topics, much to the chagrin of overly sensitive thin-skinned snowflakes who are offended by almost anything and can’t seem to take a joke.

Patria says NO to the elites, NO to “our betters” in the corporate boardrooms and ivory tower think tanks who believe that they know better than the hard-working common folks struggling to make ends meet, NO to the dishwater-dull mainstream establishment liberals and conservatives alike. To the fullest extent possible, the Fifty First Congress shall serve a forum for grassroots populist dissident voices, both right and left, and shall enact legislation that addresses the needs of the common man and woman first and above all. Government exists to serve the people, people do not exist to serve the government.

For the SRM and their “Patria First” friends who have marched to “take back Patria”, we ask “take Patria back from whom?” Take it back from Muslims? Blacks? Gays and lesbians? Illegal immigrants? Bogus refugees? You are looking in the wrong places. You should try taking Patria back from the Koch Brothers, Citigroup, Bank of America and Goldman Sachs. From their boardrooms in New York, these amoral banksters, plutocrats and one-percenters own not only America’s economy but that of Patria as well even if they refuse to recognize the micronational world. The Wall Street elites have taken it from you. Sure, Patria has changed and you are still feeling screwed almost a decade after the Great Recession. But don't be so lazy. Find out who is screwing you and do not blame the wrong people. It is not undocumented immigrants who broke unions. It is not Black people who closed your factory and shipped your job to Mexico or China. It is not Syrian refugees who decided that despite your employer’s making huge profits you don't need a raise. It was a white person, usually a heterosexual white male. Just like you, but wearing a bespoke tailored suit and driving a gas-guzzling super luxury car. And you are playing right into their hands. From their boardrooms in New York and their lobbies in Washington DC, they look and see you marching. And the counter protesters show up to fight with you, and they smile. Because they know as long as that ancient technique of divide-and-conquer keeps working, they will keep winning. You are middle class and poor. And as long as they can keep the middle class and poor left-wingers and right-wingers fighting each other in Patria as well as in America, they will keep screwing you harder and harder while laughing all the way to the bank.

Finally, in response to inner voices saying that now is the time for another Premyatra, now is the time to re-light the torch in the spirit of the original Premyatra in December 1995, know this: any time spent in the embrace of Bharat Mata is a nice-to-have, not a must-have, and even if funding is available for appropriation, visiting India will not be a priority in this administration. In a real sense, there is no need for a pilgrimage to Amritapuri, Madurai, Kanyakumari, or any other holy sites in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. The most sacred shrine is within and this inner place of pilgrimage can be accessed 24/7 at no cost.

There is no path to peace. Peace is the path. Selfless service is the path. Hands that help are better than lips that pray. May contentment reign within Patria’s borders, health and happiness within Patria’s homes. Strengthen the bonds of friendship and fellowship among all the inhabitants of Patria. Plant virtue in every soul and may the love of Thy name hallow every home and every heart. Let the mantra resound: not my will, O Lord, but Thine – Om namo bhagavate vasudevaya – and the word of Thine ancient seer be fulfilled: The Lord will reign forever, Thy God O Patria, from generation to generation, Hallelujah! May the tree of our lives be rooted in the soil of love. May good deeds be the leaves, kind words be the flowers, and peace be the fruit. May the world flourish as one family, united in love. May we thus be able to create a world in which peace and contentment prevail. JAI MA! May God bless all of you and God bless Patria!
