Ave Atque Vale - 52nd Congress passes into history

As Patria Post issued a World Cup 2026 commemorative stamp, and the Inauguration of the Fifty Third Congress only days away, the Fourth Session of the 52nd Congress (4·LII 2025-26) - indeed the entirety of the Fifty Second Congress - adjourned sine die early this morning following a marathon all-night sitting in order to pass and ratify Patria's fiscal 2027 budget.

Following is the text of the final message of the 52nd Congress

Hon. Member, Caesarea (SRM)

Madam Speaker Pro Tem, the House having ratified Patria’s fiscal 2027 budget, with your permission I rise to deliver the final Ave Atque Vale message of the Fifty Second Congress. Together we have shared, together we have grown over the past four years and as the time comes for the Speaker to bring down the gavel for the final time, together we remember a Congress that was elected during the slow recovery from the fear-mongering and government overreach of COVID-19, for which no one in the macro-world, from Dr. Fauci to the petty tyrants who enforced lockdowns, business closures and cancellations of virtually all public gatherings, has yet been brought to justice or held accountable for the spike in alcoholism, drug abuse, domestic violence, depression, anxiety, suicide, personal bankruptcies, shuttered businesses, children’s learning deficits and school dropouts. For who? For what? For the sake of a bad flu season? As the 52nd Congress began its term of office, Patria said NO to lockdowns, NO to the great reset. And now, four years later, know this: if the macro-powers that be attempt to gin up another fear-fueled pandemic out of a few unfortunate cruise ship passengers succumbing to Hantavirus or a resurgence of Ebola somewhere in Africa, if they attempt to bring back lockdowns, mask mandates and a dodgy vaccine, Patria will say NO and fight tooth and nail. To quote the Who, “We don’t get fooled again!”

In September 2022, only days before the First Session opened: “The Queen is dead, long live the King!” as Patria paused to pay its respects to a beloved macro-national Queen who reigned for seven decades and to hail the new King Charles III.

In 2023 as international travel once again became safe (not that it wasn’t safe during the years of the so-called pandemic), representatives of Patria and this Congress once again visited the macro-world. On the last day of 2023, the flag of Patria proudly flew over the backwaters of Kerala, raised by the Colonel-in-Chief of Patria’s 108th Battalion.

In January 2024, from Cochin to Kanyakumari, Patria fulfilled the almost three decades-old promise of Premyatra II. A special address delivered at Amma’s Amritapuri ashram concluded by praising Amma’s marvelous feats and unparalleled achievements as an environmentalist, chancellor of a major university, representative of Hinduism to the world at large, spiritual mother of millions, and so much more: kritvambike tat prakaroti kanya. Which other goddess can do that work?

While Patria did not endorse Kamala Harris in the 2024 US presidential election, Patria is not surprised that Donald Trump returned for a second term of office. To the American people we say “Trump is your problem. You elected him, you live with him!” As Patria watches the failed gerontocracy of Donald Trump’s second administration unfold from its safe place in the micronational world, one can only wonder how much better off both the macro- and micro-world community would be had Kamala prevailed.

Fortunately the electorate in Patria has a much broader choice than America’s binary red and blue wasteland. A vote for a third party in the US is little more than a wasted vote. But in Patria, there is not only a third party, but a fourth, fifth, sixth… and even more parties, several of which hold only a single seat. Patria has gone so far beyond the two-party system that virtually no vote is wasted and almost any party can be elected and hold seats in this Congress and the Precinct legislatures. But even in this vibrant multi-party democracy, the major parties have failed to deliver on their slogans and campaign promises.

The SRM says “bring it home!”, but what has actually been brought home over the course of these four years? Many members of this Congress, SRM and others, regularly  practice yoga, attend satsangs and temple functions, sing bhajans and chant mantras, but do they ever look about them right in their backyard? Have they really brought home compassion and dharma? Do ordinary citizens who live hand-to-mouth on dwindling incomes, who struggle to put food on the table and gas in the tank really benefit from performative displays of Hindu religiosity? How many jobs have been created by doing Lakshmi Puja for Diwali? How have Durga Puja and Navratri celebrations helped to end violence against women? Can anyone chant their way out of runaway inflation, a stagnant economy, flat-lining job growth, skyrocketing fuel prices and endless wars in the macro-world?

National Unionists say “law and order!”, but where is such obedience to the law and respect for police authority in Patria’s capital city? It takes only a short walk along the streets of downtown Castoropolis or a ride on the Castoropolis Metro to know that urban decay, filth, crime and graffiti have proliferated unchecked. This is not acceptable. The failure of local and precinct governments to re-institutionalize mentally ill and drug addicted homeless street people must be reversed. For decades we have known that deinstitutionalization is a failed policy. This is not acceptable. Judges hand out lenient sentences, or no jail time at all, to violent criminals and repeat offender street thugs, while murderers and rapists roam the streets free on bail while awaiting trial. This is not acceptable. The proliferation of graffiti must stop. Beautiful architectural heritage buildings, including some of the finest Art Deco, defaced by spray paint-wielding punks. This is not acceptable. Yet the main solutions proposed by the National Union, along with banning the sale of spray paint, are restoring the death penalty and public flogging of petty lawbreakers. Again, this is not acceptable. Even in red-state America, most death penalty advocates concede that executions have little deterrent value. Who really thinks that whipping a few graffiti artists and shoplifters in the town square for all to see will deter any young punks? Patria can do better and the NU can do better as well going forward into the new Congress.

Social Democrats say “go forward!” and “progress with a purpose”, but other than enacting Patria’s universal basic income where is the forward progress? Billionaires and oligarchs are still not paying their fair share of taxes. A network of city-run grocery stores, such as proposed by New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, have yet to appear anywhere in Patria. Free public transit for everyone is little more than a pipe dream. Message to the SD caucus in the new Congress: you were elected as democratic socialists, not slightly left of centre liberals. Do not be afraid to put forward an agenda that so-called moderates and liberals would consider too radical. Eyes on the prize. Stay true to the principles of democratic socialism.

The Chakra Party says “inquire within”, but despite some 36 years of following a yoga-based spiritual practice and claims of inward focus, have very many citizens found peace within? Has anyone meditated their way out of poverty? Has anyone’s yoga practice helped get them a good job? What is the Chakraite agenda, other than being mushy, aimless centre-leftists while advocating yoga in pre-school and mindfulness exercises in kindergarten?

The Green Party says “for a sustainable Patria”, but one of the Greens’ environmental initiatives misses the big picture. Promoting the purchase of electric cars, while helping break the unsustainable addiction to fossil fuels, does not address the larger issue of breaking the even more unsustainable addiction to driving a personal vehicle, rather than walking or taking public transit wherever possible.

One last time in this House, can I get a “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free”? Patria’s Jews are not personally accountable for Benjamin Netanyahu’s war crimes. Patria’s Jews know that Judaism and the State of Israel are not one and the same. Jewish spiritual teachings and religious practices do not include or condone the bloodthirsty nationalism of Zionism concocted by Theodor Herzl in the 1890s and pushed since 1948 by the Israel-right-or-wrong lobby in the US. As the Social Democrats congratulate Avi Lewis upon his election as leader of Canada’s New Democratic Party, Patria will never conflate Jewish identity with the political ideology of Zionism and unconditional support for a genocidal apartheid state that claims to represent global Jewry. Not in our name.

Over these four years and particularly during the 53rd Congress election campaign, Patria became a battleground for petty culture wars, leaving many to wonder “is this really the hill you want to die on?” The NU campaigned hard on “BIG DOGS, NOT PUSSYCATS”, but are men who love cats instead of or more than dogs effeminate pussies? While the Lilith Party defends biological women and were the driving force behind the SAAB Act, are women’s athletics really threatened by a disproportionate number of trans women wannabes? Is the universal basic income the end of the work ethic as we know it? What really constitutes “Cultural Marxism”? Along with the other tired old issues trotted out by rightists and conservatives for decades such as the pushback against feminism, environmentalism, gay rights and abortion on demand. But Patria’s war on AI far transcends the tired, lame culture wars mostly imported from America.

In this Fourth Session, Congress pushed back against the growth of artificial intelligence, particularly against the use of AI on broadcast media. As proclaimed during the World Radio Day celebration last February, “AI is a tool, not a voice”. As the Ramrajyavani network celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2026, fake AI-generated songs and fake AI-generated voices will never be heard on Patria’s radio stations. AI must not be allowed to enter our schools. AI must be kept out from kindergarten to college, so that only human intelligence will be used for every lesson from basic arithmetic to differential calculus. The Social Democrats do not need to warn us that AI must not take jobs away from hard-working citizens and the Greens do not need to remind us that the environmental costs of AI data centers are unsustainable.

The message will be reiterated in the Inaugural Address: NO AI IN PATRIA! No more AI slop. No more Victoria Goldiees. No more bogus AI-generated pictures and texts. The fight against AI is the fight of all fights going forward into the Fifty Third Congress and this is a hill that Patria is ready to die on, true to the last!

…………………………………………..

Speaker Pro Tem of the House:

If there is no more business to be brought forward to the attention of this House, I move that this Congress stand adjourned.  All in favor of adjournment, say “aye”. All opposed, let them speak now.

Therefore, the motion is carried by voice vote.  In closing the Fifty Second Congress, I do so with the following prayers:

Twameva mata cha pita twameva. Twameva bandhush cha sakha twameva. Twameva vidya dravinam twameva. Twameva sarvam mama deva deva.

Asato ma sad gamaya. Tamaso ma jyotir gamaya. Mrtiyorma amritam gamaya.

Mantra hinam kriyahinam bhaktihinam janardana
Yat pujitam maya deva paripurnam tadastu me.

Lokah samastah sukhino bhavantu.

Om, Shanti, Shanti, Shanti.

Under the power vested in me by the Constitution of Patria, I declare closed the Fourth Session of the Fifty Second Congress, and further pursuant to that power I declare the Fifty Second Congressus Patriaë adjourned sine die.

No to woke, no to AI as Congress adjourns

Patria is not on Trump's tariff list.

On the day that Patria Post issued a commemorative stamp in memory of Jimmy Carter (scroll down to end), the Third Session of Patria's 52nd Congress (3·LII 2024-25) adjourned for the Northern Hemisphere Summer recess, following the traditional Annual Message delivered by the Speaker of the House:

Om lalitambikayai namaha. Salutations to Devi who is the Divine Mother Lalita. With Her blessings, the Fifty Second Congress has served three-quarters of its term of office.

As always, and as per tradition, the final act of the Third Session earlier today was the ratification of Patria’s fiscal 2026 budget. Along with the budget’s usual appropriations, as in several years past, for spending on infrastructure improvements or re-builds and day-to-day improvement of existing public transit service is a call for micronational free trade. In past years, Patria pursued policies of isolationism, protectionism and a so-called “wall of tariffs”. But as unpopular as globalism might be with the grass roots and non-elites, such positions are now virtually untenable. Free Trade agreements must be ratified between Patria and other micronations, along with the current free flow of goods and services between Patria and Canada. Due to the economies of scale (or should we say, lack of scale) and the lack of a manufacturing base in most micronations, requiring almost all consumer goods to be imported, there must be no tariffs between micronations. To no one’s surprise, Patria stands with Canada, not to mention the rest of the macro-world, in the tariff wars being waged by Donald Trump.

As this Session adjourns, it seems necessary to remind Americans and Patrienish citizens alike that the most profound act of patriotism is not waving a flag or singing an anthem, but defending the constitutional order when it faces existential threat, as is now the case in Trump’s America. True patriotism is not “my country right or wrong”. It is not abstract love of country divorced from its foundational principles. It is not blind loyalty to the person or the party who currently holds power. It is certainly not the willingness to abandon constitutional principles in the name of partisan advantage or cultural grievance. True patriotism is the moral courage to stand for the democratic republic and its constitutional underpinnings even—especially—when doing so comes at personal cost such as the risk of arrest, deportation, or imprisonment without due process.

Patria said it a year ago with the passage of the SAAB (Sex Assigned At Birth) Act and Patria will say it again today: women’s competitive sports, women’s change rooms and public restrooms in Patria are intended for biological females only. Patria may not agree with much of President Trump’s bluster and bombast, but he is absolutely correct, as is the UK’s Supreme Court, that there are only two genders, male and female. Those former men can take pills and hormones, they can seek surgery in order to give them fake breasts and fake vulvas, but most citizens of Patria will still see them for what they are: guys pretending to be girls. They can use female pronouns and call themselves by women’s names, but we will call them he, him and by their given names as stated on their birth certificates. No one in Patria should hate trans-women, only love real biological women and shout it loudly without fear of pushback from misguided wokesters and leftist totalitarians: you transpeople are not women, you will not play sports against real women, you will not share intimate and safe spaces with real women.

Once again it is necessary to state the obvious: Patria is not a home for unelected elites and “we know what is best for you” petty tyrants who claim to be liberals or progressives. Know this: there is nothing liberal or progressive about these totalitarian elites. Patria must be a safe haven for the average Joe and Jane, for the real people who work hard and struggle from paycheck to paycheck if they are lucky enough to have a job that has not been outsourced, offshored, or replaced by AI, for the grass roots, for the non-woke and never-woke. Let us forever say NO to cancel culture, NO to the gatekeepers, NO to the thought police, and particularly NO to AI!

To paraphrase George HW Bush: “Read my lips, no Artificial Intelligence!” As far as can be determined in the daily lives of most citizens of Patria, ChatGPT and other AI programs serve no practical or beneficial purpose, particularly on social media where AI has only caused fake news to proliferate alongside lame pop culture fads such as blister-packed action figures. Bogus AI-generated “photos” and artwork such as the so-called Ghibli images are worse than photoshopped fake pictures, which at least must be based on an actual photograph. AI-generated text, essays and the like tend to be stilted, uninspired cliché-riddled prose that comes out sounding like a middle-school kid’s book report. Indeed, for students from grade school to graduate school, AI has done more harm than good. Not only does AI not improve writing skills, it takes plagiarism to a whole new level and outsources critical thinking to a nameless, faceless server bot. Consequently, Patria will not use AI for any official purpose – particularly in the campaign for the Fifty-Third Congress that will begin to roll out in this inter-session summer recess and continue until Election Day on April 18, 2026. While it is impossible for Patria to ban the use of AI, those who make excessive and unnecessary use of it will be looked down on with derision and scorn, just as Patria disdains sidewalk cyclists, graffiti artists, dog owners who fail to stoop and scoop, let their pets run off-leash and do not acknowledge that many people dislike dogs or are scared of them, and of course the proliferation of young hipsters (or even older folks) with otherwise attractive bodies defaced by tacky, ugly tattoos.

Under the power vested in me by the Constitution of Patria, I declare closed the Third Session of the 52nd Congress, and call this Congress to re-assemble here on Monday, 15 September 2025, in order to open the Fourth Session of the 52nd Congress.

HUMAN INTELLIGENCE DISCLAIMER: the preceding message was prepared, edited and delivered without the use of ChatGPT or other AI tool.

At the midpoint of the 52nd Congress

The Second Session of Patria's 52nd Congress (2·LII 2023-24) adjourned for the Northern Hemisphere Summer recess, following the traditional Annual Message delivered by the Speaker Pro Tem:

Om Sri Maha-rajñyai Namaha. With the Divine Mother’s blessings, the Fifty Second Congress has reached the midpoint of its term of office.

Patria respects tradition, and one of the oldest traditions in this Congress is that the final act of the session be the ratification of the budget for the year to come. Just moments ago, this House ratified Patria’s fiscal 2025 budget in which, as in previous year’s budgets, billions of rupees are committed to public transit improvements such as purchasing new vehicles, repairing roads, bridges, railways and other transportation infrastructure, strengthening the network of electric vehicle charging stations and other incentives intended to reduce dependence on – or should we say – addiction to fossil fuel. When it comes to public transit in Castoropolis and Patria’s other major cities, this Congress is committed to going beyond the traditional state of good repair (what usually passes for such in Toronto) in which the current, often inadequate, level of service is patched up and maintained as is. Rather, we will move towards bringing about real improvements in cleanliness of vehicles and stations, on-time performance and other positive changes that even the most casual rider of buses, streetcars and subways cannot help but notice.

Twenty eight years after the first Premyatra in December 1995 and on this day six months ago, this Representative of Patria embarked on Premyatra II. From Cochin to Kanyakumari, a most fantastic voyage, of which the main focus was Amritapuri, the home of the former House Leader of the now-disbanded Amrita Party. Among the highlights of Patria’s visit to South India was a special address to a joint session of the Lok Sabha and Congressus Patriaë on Jan. 10, 2024. After brief visits to Madurai, Trivandrum, Kanyakumari and Cochin, the final day of the Premyatra culminated in the inauguration of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. At Amma’s ashram, Patria’s famed 108th Battalion raised the Patrienish Tricolor over the backwaters of Kerala as the Battalion’s Colonel-in-Chief Hanuman took the salute. The Amrita Party has dissolved, but Amrita’s legacy continues, affirming the special relationship between the Inner Realm and Bharat Mata.

On the front lines of the culture wars, let it be known that Patria will not cave in the face of woke mobs, particularly when it comes to so-called “trans rights”. Trans women are not real women, no matter how much the drugs and surgery make it seem so. Trans women have rights to public accommodations in hotels, trains and the like, even a right to “gender-free” single-occupancy public restrooms, but in Patria they do not have the right to be accepted as real women. Violence against trans women will never be tolerated and the cowards who perpetrate such violence will be vigorously prosecuted. But know this: in Patria trans women will never play competitive high school or collegiate sports against real biological women. Nor will real women be required to share locker rooms and other intimate or safe spaces with these mutilated former men. In order to achieve these goals, this Session passed the SAAB Act – Sex Assigned at Birth, not the Swedish car. The fight against the acceptance of trans-folk may not be the hill everyone in Patria wants to die on, but it sends the message to our friends in the macro- and micro-world alike: notwithstanding the sizeable number of Social Democrats and other leftist or progressive parties in this House, Patria is not woke and will never be woke! Let it become the call letters of a new radio station: PINW, Patria Is Not Woke.

At the University of Castoropolis, University of Caesarea, University of Lazuria and at other campuses across Patria, “Free Palestine” encampments have sprung up, in what is the largest student movement since the creation of the SRM in the 1960s. Patria joins the macro-national movement calling for an end not only to the current war but also to Israel’s almost 60 year old occupation of the West Bank and Gaza. For many years Patria has called for the establishment of a free and independent country of Palestine. Patria supports the hoary old “two-state solution” that has long been rejected by Organized Jewry and the Israel right-or-wrong lobbies in the US. Hamas is not our enemy. Israel is not our ally. Nonetheless Patria says this war has to end now, as does the occupation and Israel’s decades-old subjugation of the Palestinian people. Israel has a right to exist, but only within the borders that existed prior to 1967. Israel has the right to defend itself against terrorist attacks but does not have the right to go to war against every man, woman and child in Palestine and to kill civilian non-combatants in violation of international law. Let Organized Jewry hate Patria. They can call Patria’s legitimate condemnation of Israel “antisemitism”. They can call Patria’s small Jewish community “self-hating Jews” for not being Zionists and not supporting the Israeli war machine right or wrong, but know this: Patria must be a safe place for Jewish anti-Zionist and dissident voices such as Jewish Voice for Peace and If Not Now. Patria rejects Israel’s assertion that the government based in West Jerusalem since 1948 acts as the voice of and in defense of all Jews worldwide. If Mr. Netanyahu intends to bomb Gaza to the Stone Age, Patria’s Jews say “NOT IN OUR NAME!” If the IDF storm troopers are committing genocide, ethnic cleansing and other war crimes in Gaza, Patria’s Jews say “NOT IN OUR NAME!” If the Jewish lobbies in the US attempt to conflate the spiritual practices of Judaism with the bloodthirsty nationalism of Zionism, Patria’s Jews say “NOT IN OUR NAME!” More than forty years ago, Congress passed a resolution recognizing an independent State of Palestine. From one unrecognized by First World powers state to another, can I get a “FROM THE RIVER TO THE SEA, PALESTINE WILL BE FREE!?”

As the midpoint of Patria’s Congress always occurs amid the US presidential election campaign, Patria says NO to both Sleepy Joe and Donald 2.0. While Mr. Biden might be fit to serve as a ceremonial head of state like the President of India, his cognitive decline has only grown since 2020 and is such that he is unfit for the job of President of the United States. Would you fly on an aircraft captained by an 81 year old pilot? Would you undergo surgery by an 81 year old surgeon? Of course you wouldn’t. Mr. Biden is simply TOO BLEEPING OLD! The less said about Mr. Trump and his legal predicament as a convicted felon, the better. Both are too old to handle the duties of the office and have serious age-related cognitive deficiencies. These two failing old men are one of the main reasons that Patria has enacted an age limit of 70 for all elected federal and precinct public offices. America’s Founding Fathers did not intend to establish a gerontocracy. For that matter, neither did the Preceptors of Patria in 1818. Patria does not endorse any candidate in November 2024, but Patria does believe that Americans should consider voting for a third party candidate such as RFK Jr. or Jill Stein.

Under the power vested in me by the Constitution of Patria, I declare closed the Second Session of the 52nd Congress, and call this Congress to re-assemble here on Monday, 16 September 2024, in order to open the Third Session of the 52nd Congress.

Patria's Jews say "FREE PALESTINE!"

Amritavarsham 70 on order paper as new session of Congress begins

The Sergeant at Arms sounded the vuvuzela and the Speaker of the House swung the gavel in the traditional ceremony that opened the Second Session of the Fifty Second Congress (2·LII 2023-24). One of the first items on the order paper: Amritavarsham 70, Amma’s 70th birthday celebrations which will take place October 2 and 3, though Amma’s actual birthday is Sept. 27. Patria Post has issued a commemorative stamp to honor the celebration, with a value of 70 Patrienish Rupees.

Patria Post also issued a stamp in memory of Tina Turner, who passed away in May 2023. The illustration on the memorial stamp bears witness to Ms. Turner’s practice of Buddhism.

Patria is “where woke goes to die” as Congress adjourns

The First Session of the Fifty Second Congress (1·LII 2022-23) adjourned for the summer recess at 10:13 PM (local time in Patria). The Sergeant-at-Arms brought down the gavel immediately after the traditional Annual Message to Congress was delivered by the Speaker Pro Tem. The speech doubled down on the message that has been propagated over the past three years of COVID and post-George Floyd racial reckoning: PATRIA IS NOT WOKE.

Following is the text of the Annual Message to Congress:

Om Sri Matre Namaha. With the Divine Mother’s blessings, the Fifty Second Congress marks one year in office.

Earlier today, this House ratified Patria’s fiscal 2024 budget – traditionally the last act of Congress on the final day of the Session. As in previous years, this budget includes the necessary appropriations to build and improve Patria’s transportation infrastructure, support education from grade school to graduate school, maintain national defense in all branches of the military and fund new law and order initiatives. “Defund the police”? Not happening. Not at a point when crime – particularly violent assaults committed by mentally ill psychopaths who belong in institutions, not on the streets – is out of control. Indeed, you do not have to be a National Unionist to agree that there must be a stronger police presence on Patria’s streets and particularly on Castoropolis Transit buses and subways.

In the past year, Patria has continued on its maverick path of progressive economic and social policies while rejecting the usual leftist orthodoxies, political correctness and of course “wokeness”. Again, say it loudly and say it proudly: PATRIA IS NOT WOKE! To paraphrase Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, Patria is where woke goes to die.

Why is Patria not woke? Because no objective and informed citizen of Patria can fail to at least question, if not completely reject, premises the American-style leftists and self-proclaimed progressives relentlessly promote:

Human civilization is unsustainable. We are running out of fossil fuel. Burning fossil fuel will destroy the planet. Renewable energy is clean. Renewable energy is the only acceptable option. White people are inherently racist and enjoy unwarranted privileges. Math and the hard sciences are racist and male-dominated. The nuclear family is oppressive. People can choose their genders. Men not named Jean Drapeau can have babies, or can at least turn themselves into women through drugs and surgery. Not to mention that women can have penises.

Each of these premises is not only false, but, had they been accepted, would have wreaked destruction on Patria.

Yet these foundational lies inform every manner of mainstream public communications, from news, entertainment, education, and public policy debate, to social media discourse and search engine results. The truths that must replace these lies, in similar fashion, constitute the foundation of a resistance:

Humanity can flourish. Fossil fuel does not create an existential threat to the planet, and though it is wise to use it efficiently and not needlessly waste it, there’s plenty of it. Renewable energy is not cleaner or more sustainable than fossil fuel or nuclear power. White people are not inherently racist. Providing equal opportunity to earn success in a colorblind society is the only equitable way to allocate privileges. Math and the hard sciences are not racist or sexist. The nuclear family with a father and a mother is the optimal way to raise children to become healthy, happy and productive adults. Sex is immutable and binary. Women give birth to babies, and men father babies.

Is that clear enough? It is a relief and a breath of fresh air to hear anyone in Patria explain that we’re not all about to die in a climate cataclysm caused by human activity, that there are plenty of energy resources of which electric vehicles, solar panels and wind turbines are only a part, that prosperity is an eminently possible choice, that Patria has created the most inclusive society in the history of the world, and that it’s OK to be white, black, brown, or whatever, it’s OK to be colorblind, it’s OK not to want trans women playing competitive sports against real biological women and it’s OK to have a traditional family and teach traditional values and norms to your children.

Wokeness – though usually associated with liberals and the left – has never been progressive in the slightest. It wants to fight discrimination with discrimination. It relies on coercion, censorship and cancellation to defeat its opponents. Its obsession with race only pits working-class people against one another. It does virtually nothing to improve the lot of ordinary citizens of all races, sexual preferences and genders. And that is why the divisive woke ideology has been rejected by the Social Democrats and all of Patria’s progressive parties.

As the First Session rises for the summer, this House recalls the so-called “For You” or “Flashdance” summer forty years ago, the last mad fling of the Cold War in Reagan’s first term. Nonetheless the 42nd Congress left Patria in a better place than it found it. Why such hedonism? Why such a lacking of spiritual or at least inward focus at this time in 1983? Just four words: it filled a need.

This Session also has four words for those in both the macro- and micro-world who are unable to wean themselves from wearing masks (even when alone outdoors!) and continue to live in fear of a respiratory virus that did not justify the unaccountable, dictatorial, draconian measures taken almost everywhere in the macro-world three years ago and has now become a “learn to live with it” inconvenience like the seasonal flu or common cold: just let it go. Or we have moved on. Patria awaits the “Covid Nuremberg”, when those who advocated and enforced lockdowns and mask mandates will be tried for crimes against humanity or at least be called to account for children’s learning and social skills deficits, undetected and untreated cancer and other non-COVID diseases, spikes in domestic violence, drug abuse and alcoholism, small businesses that permanently shuttered, the proliferation of depression, anxiety and other mental health issues and the tragic rise in suicides directly attributable to the lockdowns.

In previous years Congress would adjourn with a congratulatory message to the winner of Jim Rome’s Jungle Party Smack-Off. But this year’s 29th edition of the Smack-Off is a week away, on Patria’s National Day no less. Good luck to all participants in Smack-Off XXIX as Patria will be listening on PMBC-1152 or on other AM radio stations on June 30. Speaking of which, let us note one of the key pieces of legislation passed by the First Session: Patria has ensured the survival of AM radio in all cars and trucks, whether gas or electric, by passing its version of the AM for Every Vehicle Act that is making its way through the US Congress with bipartisan support.

Until we meet again in September, the House adjourns with a brief prayer:

Twameva mata cha pita twameva

Twameva bandhushcha sakha twameva

Twameva vidya dravinam twameva

Twameva sarvam mama deva deva.

Kayena vacha manasendriairva

Buddhyatmana va prakriteh swabhavat

Karomi yadyat sakalam prasmai

Narayanayeti samarpayami.

Under the power vested in me by the Constitution of Patria, I declare closed the First Session of the 52nd Congress, and call this Congress to re-assemble here on Monday, 18 September 2023, to open the Second Session of the 52nd Congress.

HUMAN INTELLIGENCE DISCLAIMER: the preceding message was prepared, edited and delivered without the use of Chat GPT or other artificial intelligence.

Also today, Patria Post issued a commemorative stamp in memory of Baba Hari Dass, on his hundredth birth anniversary.

“Rise up, push back” against COVID mandates as Congress begins session

After sitting for an hour or two in the early afternoon of Inauguration Day, June 30, the new Fifty Second Congress adjourned for the traditional summer recess. Recess time ends today as Congress members return to the Capitol to begin the First Session (1·LII 2022-23), postponed one day in memory of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The Queen’s state funeral was held on the day Congress was scheduled to re-convene, Sept. 19. Patria paid its respects to the greatest modern macro-national monarch and her 70 year reign.

On the order paper for the First Session is a call to “rise up and push back” should any government attempt to re-impose mask mandates, vaccine passports, school closures, lockdowns and other COVID-19 restrictions. As duly noted, the time for government overreach has passed, the measures were of very little practical use to stop COVID’s spread and online school likely caused many children irreparable damage. Learn to live with it. As Patria has been saying since 2020, kevál estí grippí – it’s only the flu (or a bad cold).

RIP Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

First act of 52nd Congress: Recess until September

In case you were wondering what Patria's 52nd Congress has accomplished after one month in office, the answer is nothing. The first act of the new Congress, only minutes after the conclusion of the Inaugural ceremony on June 30, was the traditional motion to adjourn until September. On Sept. 19, 2022 Congress will re-convene and begin the First Session (1·LII 2022-23).

As the calendar flips to August, Janmashtami - the celebration of Krishna's birthday - is just around the corner (Aug. 18 or 19). Patria Post has the stamp for it!

Patria's 52nd Congress - Inaugural Address

The following is the text of the Inaugural Address/Speech from the Throne delivered by the Speaker of the House in Castoropolis (Kashipura) on June 30, 2022.

Madam Chief Justice, Mr. Sergeant-at-Arms, distinguished guests, honourable members of the Fifty Second Congress, those who well and faithfully served in the Fifty First Congress, fellow citizens of Patria, Amma’s beloved children, all those gathered here in Kashipura on this auspicious noon hour on the 30th day of June, let us open this new House of Assembly with salutations to Lord Ganesha Om gam ganapataye namah and the following prayer: Om saha navavatu saha nau bhunaktu, saha viryam karavavahai, tejasvi navadhitam astu, ma vidvishavahai. Om shanti shanti shanti. May we be protected together. May we be nourished together. May we all make a bold attempt. May our study be enlightening. May there be no hatred between us. May there be peace.

On this day, we would be remiss not to acknowledge the centennial of radio broadcasting in Patria. One hundred years ago today, Patria’s pioneer radio station PMC, which had signed on only a few months earlier in 1922, broadcast the inauguration of the Twenty Seventh Congress.

As we know, there is one less party seated in this House. The Fifty Second Congress regrets the demise of the Amrita Party, but thanks the Party’s members for their service to Patria since 2002. Patria will forever be grateful for the presence of Amma in this House over the past two decades, representing the great Precinct of Arboria. The Amrita Party’s legacy includes not only Amrita TV being available on all basic cable systems in Patria, an Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences hospital and a campus of Amrita University in Patria, but also – and most important of all – continuing Amma’s work as an environmentalist who leads from the front.

Patria will listen to the argument that human activity has little effect on the Earth’s climate. There is certainly evidence that climate change took place in ancient times and in the Middle Ages when fossil fuels were virtually unknown. There is even evidence of climate change on Mars, certainly no fault of the Martians. But know this, whether caused by human activity or not, climate change is real, it is happening even as we meet here, and it affects the micro-world just as much as the macro-world. Therefore, micronations such as Patria have an environmental duty of care as great as any macro-national world power. In 2016 Patria ratified the MAPS treaty and Patria continues to advocate for the Marine Arctic Peace Sanctuary, that safeguards the Arctic Ocean north of the Arctic Circle. In this single act of conservation, that advances all 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, MAPS protects our homes, food and water supplies, global immunity, economic balance, social stability, and world peace. It is not only the small Green Party caucus who will support Patria’s environmental initiatives in this new Congress. And there will be new initiatives along with the commitment in the previous Congress to reduce the use of plastics and disposable items. On the order paper: the fashion industry – whether made in Patria or imported fast-fashion from the usual suspects such as Bangladesh – must commit to textile recycling so that old worn-out clothing does not sit in landfills but is re-made into new garments, made and worn in Patria – not turned into industrial rags or exported to Africa. The internal combustion engine has enjoyed a nice run since the early 1900s, but a glance at the price of petrol is all it takes to know that now is the time for the micro and macro-world to break its unsustainable addiction to fossil fuel. As contained in Patria’s fiscal 2023 budget, ratified less than 24 hours ago as the last act of the 51st Congress, Patria will offer subsidies, loans or rebates for purchase of electric cars and will appropriate sufficient funds in order to build the fast-charge network so that electric charging stations will become an even more common sight on our roads than the traditional filling stations. Beginning no later than 2024, Patria will mandate that the majority of Patria Post trucks and other government fleet vehicles be electric powered. Public transit buses will also transition from diesel to electric or hybrid electric. And finally, in another of Amma’s environmental initiatives that also uplifts the lives of females in the developing world, women in Patria will be encouraged to adopt reusable menstrual pads, such as those produced by Amma’s Saukhyam project.

Along with these environmental initiatives, Patria is also committed to a fair and equitable workplace environment. Not only should every worker in Patria be guaranteed a living wage, topped up if necessary by the universal basic income that has been ratified in principle and will be implemented no later than fiscal 2024, the new Congress will spearhead legislation that will ensure across Patria a mandatory minimum of four weeks paid vacation, year-long paid parental leave, unlimited paid sick or disability leave, and a four-day work week so that Thursday becomes the new Friday.

Forty years ago today, on these same Capitol steps, Patria marked the end of the “failed policies, failed hopes” of the Forty First Congress. Say what you want about the alcohol-fueled, hedonistic Forty Second Congress, but it at least served as a partial do-over or make-good for the failed Forty First. Let it be the intention of all who are old enough to remember the dark time, all the veteran Congress members who actually served in that House, to reach some kind of reconciliation with the failed Forty First Congress, acknowledge its legacy, be grateful for its few good experiences such as exceptional medium wave and shortwave DX catches and move on. Recall fondly or not, nostalgically or not, the excesses of the Forty Second Congress, but know that in 1986 it left Patria in a better place than it found it in 1982. And forty years from today, let it be said that the Fifty First Congress left Patria in a better place than it found it, COVID-19 or no.

Patria calls on China to take responsibility for the pain and suffering they have foisted on the macro and micro-world alike, most likely through a biological weapon under development that was accidentally leaked from a lab. No macro-national leader has dared to say that China should pay reparations – not only to the families of those who died of COVID but even more to the loved ones of those who committed suicide during the lockdowns and those who died of cancer, heart disease and other non-COVID causes because the surgeries and treatments that could have saved their lives were cancelled or postponed indefinitely. But Patria has been saying it for more than two years. The geriatric ChiComms must pay the debt for their horrific crime against humanity, just as Germany continues to pay reparations to Holocaust survivors and the US may someday do for the African-American descendants of slaves. Can I get a “MAKE CHINA PAY?”

Long before COVID-19 Patria said: “If we have to go alone, we go alone with pride”. And when the lamps were going out all over the macro-world in March 2020, Patria stood alone. Alone against the world, Patria adopted the Great Barrington Declaration. Alone against the world, Patria chose freedom above fear. Alone against the world, Patria considered COVID-19 little more than a bad flu season, comparable to the 1957-58 Asian Flu or 1968-69 Hong Kong Flu. Alone against the world, Patria adopted herd immunity as its primary means of keeping those truly at risk of serious illness safe. Alone against the world, Patria refused to impose lockdowns, vaccine passports and mask mandates. Alone against the world, Patria chose to protect those who were truly vulnerable, such as residents of nursing homes and long-term care facilities, while allowing the majority of Patrienish citizens to continue living a normal life free of restrictions, free to protect themselves as they and their personal health care providers saw fit. Alone against the world, Patria placed personal responsibility and individual choice above government decree. And of course, almost alone against the world, Patria did not let the fear-mongers and lockdown-mongers win.

Many macro-world liberals and progressives seem content with letting the pandemic – or should we say “panic-demic” – continue indefinitely, and keep the mask mandates and other restrictions on the books – even if self-imposed rather than by government fiat – permanently. But Patria’s message to the macro-world and micro-world alike is “COVID is over”. It is in the rear view mirror NOW! If not now, when?

Patria chooses freedom over fear. Today, as in March 2020, and always. If not now, when?

Let us move from fear to love and be rooted in love. As Amma says, “my religion is love”. If not now, when?

Let us recognize that health care decisions such as how to protect oneself against a mostly mild but highly communicable disease are choices made between each citizen and his or her personal physician or health care provider, not mandates handed down by unelected, unaccountable public health officers and so-called “top doctors” such as Theresa Tam and Anthony Fauci. If not now, when?

Let us recognize that hugs and human contact are essential, pandemic or no. Self-care and self-love are essential, pandemic or no. If not now, when?

As Pride month concludes, let us affirm that Asexuals should be included and welcomed within the Pride movement along with their LGBTQ brothers and sisters, not looked down upon as simply failed heterosexuals, out of luck adult virgins or incels who have yet to commit violent crimes. If not now, when?

Let us support all forms of free speech and free expression, including unpopular and dissident voices. Let us never limit free speech to only the views that have been deemed acceptable by the elites, social media fact-checkers and our so-called betters. If not now, when?

Let us never teach our children, teens and young adults that any sex, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, religion, or national origin is inherently superior or inferior. The First Session of this Congress should pass legislation that would ban so-called Critical Race Theory from all Patria’s publicly funded schools, colleges and universities. Let us never teach Blacks to hate Whites and Whites to hate themselves. If not now, when?

Let us significantly reduce the dependence on Chinese-made consumer goods. To the greatest extent possible, bring the manufacturing jobs back to Patria, or in the macro-world back to Canada, the United States, the UK and other first-world democracies. If it can be made in Patria, let it be made in Patria. Bring the jobs home. If not now, when?

Whether we voted SRM or not, let us proudly declare “PATRIA FIRST”! Say it loud, say it proud. Our Inner Realm, take it back! Our economy, take it back! The banner of Sanatan Dharma, raise it high! Always be asking these three Patrienish words: “estí buní Patríæ?” Is it good for Patria? If not now, when?

Nationalism is not something evil, not something to be feared, not even something that is the exclusive domain of rightists and conservatives. Either we have a country or we don’t. And if we do, and if Patria is something more than the name that goes on our coins, postage stamps and passports, something more than the team bearing its flag on the athletic uniforms we root for at sports events, then we must put it first, to love and serve, support and defend. Hence, Patria First! If not now, when?

No one ever complied their way out of government overreach. No one ever changed the world by being pragmatic or incremental. No one ever got nice things by being moderate or centrist. Let the multi-party composition of this House affirm that that Patria has no use for moderate milquetoast big-tent center-left and center-right parties such as Canada’s Liberals and Conservatives, the UK’s Labour and Tories and certainly not the binary bipolar wasteland of America’s Democrats and Republicans. Patria does not need some new political parties. Patria needs a generation of brave men and women who can fearlessly rise to face all threats to their collective interests. A generation steeled in their effort to realize their grand vision of a new nation. This gathering of the faithful — the true inheritors of Patria — will urge our people onward.

Know this: a nation run by bankers will never be out of debt. A nation owned by weapons manufacturers – what Dwight Eisenhower dubbed the military-industrial complex – will never know peace. A nation that allows only a small, mostly unelected segment of its citizens to write the laws and draft extra-legal mandates will never know justice. And if these elements own a nation’s media, its people will never know the truth.

In the 1960s the left was a major component of the counterculture, part of the revolution against the so-called establishment. Today it is the establishment, while the right is the vanguard of the anti-establishment. And in this new Congress, Patria looks to the right for the four Fs: Faith, Family, Freedom and Free Speech, while retaining universal basic income, extended paid maternity (or paternity) leave, subsidized child care, single-payer health insurance that includes dental care, vision care and pharma care, and the other progressive economic underpinnings laid down by the Social Democrats and the old, traditional, populist left that advocates free speech, open debate, freedom of association and above all, freedom of choice and bodily autonomy, be it abortions or vaccines, while giving no quarter for wokeism, intersectionality, critical race theory, hurt feelings of easily-offended snowflakes and of course the never-ending COVIDocracy of mandates and restrictions. Just as Pierre Trudeau said “there is no place for the state in the bedrooms of the nation”, Patria says there is no place for the state in the bodies of our citizens and the doctor’s offices of our nation. Just as the abortion rights pioneers said some half century ago, Patria says again: “my body, my choice”!

In Patria, citizens should not only be free to speak but to speak freely. Yet today in much of the macro world, free speech is threatened and has even gotten a bad name. How did free speech get such a bad name? How did free speech come to be seen as an enemy of civilization? Was free speech not supposed to be one of the noblest goals of the enlightenment, a touchstone for democracies worldwide? Yes it was. That is why the modern left hates free speech. Because the modern left in much of the macro-world is an authoritarian movement built around censorship. They would not accuse you of being against God or the government. Rather, they will say that your speech is a form of violence against some particular group of people. And therefore, you need to be stopped, in order to keep other people “safe”, in order not to hurt other people’s feelings. These leftist totalitarians alone get to decide what is racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, or even anti-science. But know this: not the democratic, traditional, non-woke left in Patria, not the Social Democrats, Greens, Chakra Party and the independent progressives seated in this House today. To those totalitarian killers of free speech and free thought who claim to be “progressive”, Patria says – to quote Greta Thunberg – “how dare you!”

And thus be it ever that Patria will stand as a maverick state that goes alone. Democratic socialist and not woke. Leftist – old-school leftist – and proudly standing for free speech, open debate, questioning of authority, defying the ruling class elites, and of course vehemently rejecting cancel culture. Progressive and politically incorrect. A so-called welfare state that accepts capitalism while obliging its billionaires and plutocrats to pay their fair share of taxes as well as direct a small part of their wealth towards making Patria a better place for those less fortunate. Proudly populist. Fiercely nationalist. No elites. No thought police. No safe spaces or trigger warnings. For the benefit of the working classes, not the woke elite. As George Orwell wrote in 1984 (the book, not the year), “if there is hope, it lies in the proles”. The proles, the ordinary working men and women of Patria, not the woke elite, who struggle daily to make ends meet, to put food on their table and fuel in their gas tanks, amid economic, social and environmental collapse. The proles care not one whit about which pronouns to use, whether trans women are bona fide females, whether they are ticking enough diversity, equity and inclusion boxes, or whether black lives matter more than all lives. The proles also say, as Greta says, “how dare you!”

Patria rose up in a spirit of defiance back in 1818, rose up again and reaffirmed Sanatan Dharma in 1989, rose up once more against the COVID totalitarians in 2020, and still we rise. No macro-world governments recognize Patria. No foreign aid given or ambassadors sent. No one wishes to travel on the path with Patria. And that suits Patria just fine. Indeed, we go alone with pride!

But of course we are not walking alone in this new Congress. The Lord – Krishna, Shiva, Devi, Allah, Yahweh – is at our side in whatever name and form is best suited to each citizen of Patria. Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of Hosts; the whole Earth is full of His glory. Praised be the glory of God through all the world. Let Thy doctrine descend as the rain, Thy word distil as the dew. May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in Thy sight, may Thy will be done, and may God bless Patria!

SRM slams NU and Jungle as lame duck session begins

The SRM Congress members are pointing fingers at National Unionists and Jim Rome’s Jungle Party for failing to deliver a right-wing coalition in the 52nd Congress election. “If the National Union and Jungle had doubled their seat count, to 40 and 20 seats respectively, along with most of the minor parties the Patria First movement could have held off the Social Democrats, Greens and Chakras… but no, they failed to deliver and Patria is stuck with four more years of so-called progress with a purpose, four more years of discredited leftist rabble”. Of course, the SRM could have done better itself, as its own pollsters projected at least 108 seats. They won 90 seats, but in Patria’s everyone-into-the-pool proliferation of parties, that translated into only about 27% of the popular vote.

All bark, no bite. NU won only one more seat than in 2018.

Holding a mediocre 22 seats (about 6.6% of popular vote), the National Union won only a single seat more than in 2018, while the Jungle Party lost one seat, down to 10 members from 11 in the 51st Congress. The biggest winner in the 52nd Congress-elect is the Chakra Party. They won 76 seats – 43 more than in 2018 – and succeeded in scooping up a large number of Amrita Party supporters. Given Patria’s multi-party mish-mash, getting about 23% of popular vote is a big win for the Chakras.

The old 51st Congress (4·LI 2021-22) reconvened for the traditional post-election Lame Duck Session that will continue until a day or two before Inauguration Day and will include Smack-Off XXVIII on June 24, in which the Jungle Party will select the ten members of its caucus (broadcast live on PMBC-1152). The first item on the order paper is to certify the returns of the recent election, as provided by the returning officers of the 13 Precincts and the Federal District. The last item is to hammer out and ratify Patria’s fiscal 2023 budget. In between there are many items of business and other loose ends to tie up, including a proclamation of Patria’s neutrality in the Russo-Ukrainian war.

SRM thought they won, until they didn't.

Patria Votes 2022: SRM foiled again by Social Democrats, Chakra and Green Parties

“Whose Patria? Our Patria?” But not quite the SRM’s Patria. While the Hindu right “Patria First” SRM won the most seats in the Fifty Second Congress, they ran into a progressive (but not woke) buzz-saw: the “Progress with a purpose” Social Democrats, “Bikes not cars” Greens and “Inquire Within” Chakra Party, who have enough combined seats for a simple (50%) majority in the House. For those bills, constitutional amendments and other resolutions that require a two-thirds majority, they will still need support from the minor parties, Jim Rome’s Jungle, National Unionists and at least a few SRMers. The election really did not change much of the power balance from the Social Democrat-Amrita-Chakra dominated Fifty First Congress, even if the SRM won 34 more seats than in 2018. Despite the demise of the Amrita Party, there will be four IAM – Independent Amrita Members – sitting in the new Congress, who were elected through write-in votes and the party remaining on the ballot in Caesarea

The law and order National Union campaigned hard on a “don’t be a pussy” platform, but equating manliness with owning a big dog and supporting the police right or wrong (aka Blue Lives Matter) seemed hardly worth it as they managed to win only one more seat than in 2018. Jim Rome’s Jungle Party finished down one seat from 2018, but at least they took some votes away from the NU, those votes being unemployed or minimally employed adult boys living in their mom and dad’s basement, spending most of the day playing video games.

The SRM claims its “win” was in large part due to the demise of the Amrita Party. But the real winner was the Chakra Party, who scooped up 43 more seats than in 2018. Most of those votes would likely have gone to Amrita.

A whopping 22 parties (including the remnants of the Amrita party, known as “IAM”) will be represented in the 52nd Congress, though nine of those parties hold only a single seat each. Try doing that with first-past-the-post! Thanks to proportional representation, no vote in Patria is ever wasted or elects no one. Even write-ins can win a seat, though this was due to nostalgia for the defunct Amrita Party rather than proportional representation per se.

 Campaign 2022 final score:

 SRM – 90 (+34 from 2018)

As Patria awaits the 52nd Congress Inauguration Day on June 30, a reminder that Patria is not a place for social conservative culture wars. The tired old horses such as modest dress for women and no same-sex marriage left the barn a long time ago.
