53rd Congress: 108 seats for SRM, strong mandate to fight AI

Election Day in Patria, the 53rd since 1818 (aka #patriavotes2026) has come and gone. The SRM (Spiritual Regeneration Movement), the Hindu nationalist, Patria First party inspired by India's BJP, won the most seats in Patria's Fifty Third Congress. A very appropriate number - 108! Up 18 seats from 2022. SRM'ers are actually left-wing populist to some extent, so they can get along well with the second-place Social Democrats who won 82 seats in the 333-seat Congress. In third place were the mushy liberal bliss blobs of the Chakra Party, with 52 seats.

A whopping 22 parties will be represented in the new Congress, though 11 of them are one-seaters. Party standings follow:

SRM – 108 (+18 from 2022)

Social Democrats – 82 (-2)

Chakra – 52 (-24)

Green – 28 (+11)

National Union – 15 (-7)

Lilith – 14 (+6)

IAM – 8 (+4)

Jungle – 7 (-3)

Libertarian – 4 (-1)

Peoples’ Party – 2 (unchanged)

Reconstruction Party – 2 (unchanged)

others* – 11

*one seat each: Popular Front of Caesarea, Family Values Party, PUNC (Patriots' Union of Nova Columbia), LIP (Lazurian Independent Party), Progressive Labor of Centralia, Patriots’ Front of Aeolia, United Farmers of Antioch, Freedom Party of Ambrosia, Free Mauretania Party, Pottsylvanian Alliance, Patriots’ Union of Haldimania.

During the 2026 election cycle, virtually every party spoke out strongly against the proliferation of artificial intelligence, particularly in schools and workplaces. Patria speaks with one voice: NO AI!

What part of "No AI in Patria" don't you understand?

Note that the Federal District of Castoropolis, Caesarea, Antioch and Halidmania fill their seats through mixed member proportional representation. Approximately one third of the seats are won by traditional first-past-the-post in electoral districts (known in Canada as ridings), while the remainder are awarded through a precinct-wide party vote. The other precincts award seats through everyone-into-the-pool proportional representation, in which the congressional delegation is chosen by party lists.

World Radio Day 2026: AI is a tool, not a voice

On Feb. 13, Patria celebrates World Radio Day. Proclaimed in 2011 by UNESCO Member States (of which Patria and other micronations are not members) and adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 2012, World Radio Day (WRD) is a Day to thank broadcasters for the news they deliver, the voices they amplify and the stories they share. The theme of World Radio Day 2026 is "Radio and AI".

One of the hottest hot-button issues on Patria's Campaign 2026 trail is the fight against AI. Patria is committed to rejecting AI in every facet of daily life. Virtually every party jockeying for seats in the 53rd Congress has come out strongly against AI deepfakes, bogus AI-generated songs, writing and illustrations, as well as AI slop in general. Both UNESCO and the radio industry in Patria -- stations such as PMC-846 have been broadcasting on the AM band for over a century -- stress that AI is a tool, not a voice. While AI might be put to some off-air use, such as in a station's advertising billing department, AI-generated voices and music will never be tolerated on any radio station in Patria. Don't even think about it!

How is WRD celebrated in Patria? Every day is World Radio Day, as Patria's radio stations, particularly those on AM/medium wave, broadcast real, relevant programming with local news and local on-air personalities airing a variety of formats. Unlike in the US, where a scan of the AM dial would usually reveal only a few formats: right-wing talk, religion (no need to mention which one!), sports (often with an emphasis on sports gambling) and Spanish or other ethnic programming.

108 days of “NO AI” campaigning as New Year begins

As the calendar flips to 2026, there are exactly 108 days until Election Day, April 18. Virtually every party on the #patriavotes2026 campaign trail is on board with Patria’s so-called War on Artificial Intelligence. Whether the leftist Social Democrats, the new-agey Chakra Party, the macho man National Union, the TERFs of the Lilith Party, Jim Rome’s Jungle Party, the tree-hugging Greens, and of course the Hindu nationalist SRM, all parties contesting seats in the 53rd Congress rise as one with the calls of “NO AI IN PATRIA!”, “Human intelligence, not ChatGPT!” and “No more Victoria Goldiee’s”.

One of the worst-kept secrets of the 2026 campaign is the apparent resurrection of the Amrita Party under the name of “IAM”, rising from the tiny Independent Amrita Member caucus that was left over when the Amrita Party dissolved in late 2021. Like virtually all other parties, they also oppose the proliferation of AI. The IAM Party will not have Amma as a sitting member of Congress and will probably be lucky to elect more than a handful of members to the 53rd Congress, but they stole Patria Post’s 2026 definitive stamp design, depicting Amma as a young girl named Sudhamani, to use as one of their campaign posters.

Needless to mention, the SRM has been leading from the front on the WAR ON AI campaign.
